HERALDS BATS LEAD THE WAY IN WIN OVER MUSTANGS

Orwell, OH- Isabelle Holler showcased her batting prowess, delivering a flawless performance with three hits in three at-bats, leading the St. John Heralds to a decisive 10-3 victory over Grand Valley on Monday. Holler’s contributions were pivotal, doubling twice and adding a crucial single in the sixth inning.

The Heralds erupted with a remarkable eight-run third inning, propelling them to victory. Isabelle Stern kickstarted the scoring with a well-earned walk, while Emma Hutchins’ sacrifice bunt and Caitlyn Carney’s single each drove in runs. Alyssa Cevera’s double proved instrumental, plating two more runs, and Holler’s second double of the inning added to the Heralds’ commanding lead. Rylee Frasure capped off the inning with a single, further solidifying the Heralds’ dominance.

St. John wasted no time making their mark in the first inning, as Stern’s double drove in two runs, setting the tone for the rest of the game.

Though Grand Valley managed to tie the game early on, St. John swiftly regained control and never looked back.

Holler earned a well-deserved win for the Heralds, pitching a stellar game and allowing just one earned run over seven innings, while striking out four and walking four. Grand Valley’s Hostetter endured a tough outing on the mound, surrendering 10 runs on 10 hits over seven innings.

Offensively, the Heralds tallied 10 hits in total, with Cevera and Stern each driving in two runs. Holler’s speed was on full display as she swiped two bases, adding to the Heralds’ offensive prowess.

St. John’s aggressive baserunning resulted in four stolen bases throughout the game, further adding to their commanding performance.

Hostetter led the charge for Grand Valley, driving in two runs, while Bauman’s two hits led their offensive efforts.

Looking ahead, the Heralds will take their winning momentum into their next game against Badger on Tuesday, aiming to extend their dominance on the diamond.
