LIABILITY WAIVER FOR PLAYERS/PARENTS

BARBATO AND DURKIN DOMINATE ON THE COURT

YOUNGSTOWN, OH – The Ursuline Irish are coming down the home stretch of a very successful regular season on the volleyball court, and a large part of the success this season has been due to the experience on the court this year for the Irish. Liza Barbato has been one of the standouts on the court this year, as she has shown consistency and strength during all facets of the game.

Grace Durkin has done a great job setting up Irish attackers all season long, as she currently ranks second on the team in assists with 130, which is just five assists off of the team lead. The Irish currently hold a 13-6 record with just two regular season matches remaining, before what they hope is a long playoff run to follow. Ursuline will need Barbato and Durkin to continue to succeed offensively for the Irish to go as far as they want.

In this week’s Player Profile, Barbato and Durkin talk about their family life off the court, what this season has been like so far, what their journey has been like at Ursuline, and much more!

THE ICE QUEEN FEARS NONE

WARREN, OH- If you really think about the background of Warren JFK Sophomore standout Izzy Mauro, the story of what she’s done- and her projected path isn’t that hard to believe.

Mauro is the younger sister of Michael Mauro, and while she’s incredibly proud of that- is starting to blaze her own trail.

Izzy, much like her brother, leaves no mercy on the court- as she’s ranked at the top of the state for the number of blocks she’s put up in 2022.  Mauro’s youthful leadership has helped JFK find their way out of some sticky situations this year- and along with her teammates- have found their identity heading into the postseason.

While all of that is well and good, she’s also hands-on when it comes to getting her hands dirty in the garage, as she received an early birthday present to fix up and cruise around town.

Check out more incredible talents throughout this week’s Warren JFK Player Profile: The Ice Queen Fears None.

PESA AND PEPLOWSKI PREVAIL OVER ALL

YOUNGSTOWN, OH – The Ursuline Irish are coming down the home stretch of a very successful regular season on the volleyball court, and a large part of the success this season has been due to the experience on the court this year for the Irish. Gracie Pesa has one of the most crucial jobs in the game, and that’s serving. Without a good serve, you can put your team at a disadvantage during the rally, but due to the skill of Pesa, that is something that rarely ever happens.

Kelly Peplowski has been huge for the Irish all season long both attacking and defensively at the net for Ursuline, currently ranking second on the team in kills and blocks. Gracie, Kelly, and their teammates have jumped out to a 13-6 record, and with little time remaining in the regular season, the Irish are hoping to hit their stride at the right time.

In this week’s Player Profile, Pesa and Peplowski talk about their journey at Ursuline, their favorite part about the sport, and more!

LAMB AND OPALICK SCORCH THE NET

YOUNGSTOWN, OH – The Ursuline Irish Volleyball team is coming down the home stretch of the 2022, and up to this point, senior leadership has played a big role in the current success of the program. One of those seniors is Mia Opalick who has been huge defensively for the Irish while helping set up the offense this fall. Opalick currently ranks third on the team in total digs with 87 on the season, and Ursuline will need her to continue to be successful if the Irish want to make a deep playoff run. Opalick, like so many other seniors on the Irish, has displayed a big role with her experience in key situations, and has helped put Ursuline in such a good spot this late in the season.

Another senior, Trinity Lamb, has been one of the best players in the valley this year for one of the valley’s best teams, as she currently leads the way for Ursuline with 95 kills and 55 blocks. With two matches remaining in the regular season, the Irish will need Lamb to continue to produce heading into postseason play.

In this week’s Player Profile, Lamb and Opalick talk about the bond that this senior group has, what it’s like to play at a school like Ursuline, and more!
