URSULINE GRABS EYE OPENING WIN

LOUISVILLE OH- Both teams were strong in the pitcher’s circle Wednesday, but Ursuline defeated Louisville 3-1. Mia Opalick allowed just six hits to Louisville.

The Irish opened up scoring in the second inning, when Hannah Saluga homered on a 1-2 count, scoring two runs.

Opalick pitched Ursuline to victory. The righty lasted seven innings, allowing six hits and one run while striking out six and walking one.

Katie Heath led things off on the rubber for the Leopards. Heath surrendered two runs on six hits over four and two-thirds innings, striking out two and walking one. Anna Sirohman threw two and a third innings out of the bullpen.

Ursuline socked two home runs on the day. Saluga had a four bagger in the second inning. Savannah Patrone had a dinger in the sixth inning.

The Irish racked up 11 hits. Saluga, Brooke Opalick, and Lilly Ditz each collected multiple hits. Ditz, O’palick, and Saluga each managed two hits to lead the way.

Matti Benson went 2-for-3 at the plate to lead Louisville in hits. The Leopards were sure-handed in the field and didn’t commit a single error. Addy Campbell had the most chances in the field with six.
