URSULINE IRISH FOOTBALL COACH’S CORNER (EP. 4) WITH DAN REARDON

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – Every team will look good when winning, but you learn the most about what a team is truly built for when facing adversity. The Ursuline Irish could have easily waved the white flag last Friday night at Stambaugh Stadium as the Austintown Fitch lead blossomed to 42-7 after a 55-yard touchdown run with just under three minutes remaining in the third quarter. But that wouldn’t be the Ursuline way. The Irish were able to spark some momentum offensively, and after 27 unanswered fourth-quarter points, Ursuline found themselves trailing 42-34, with just under one minute remaining in the game, with an onside kick pending. Unfortunately for the Irish, Fitch would recover the onside kick and their comeback hopes would fall just short, as the Falcons would take two kneel-downs and escape with the victory in a battle of two of the area’s top programs.

There was a lot to be learned though from Ursuline’s effort on Friday night, as the Irish showed just how resilient of a bunch they are, and that there is a lot to look forward to as the season progresses. Head Coach Dan Reardon sat down with YSN’s Anthony Romo and Steve Leslie to discuss last week’s crazy game, what to look forward to in this week’s matchup with the Warren G. Harding Raiders, and much more in this week Coaches Corner brought to you by the Golden Dawn.
