WATERLOO FLOODS THE SCOREBOOK ON TROJANS

SEBRING, OH- Waterloo steamrolled the Sebring Trojans with a staggering 24-2 victory on Monday, firing on all cylinders right from the first inning.

The game opened with Waterloo capitalizing on a series of Sebring mishaps, including a dropped third strike and multiple errors, alongside hits by Landon McClain, Trevor Simons, and Aric May. The team quickly racked up six runs, setting a high-paced tone for the rest of the game.

In the second inning, Waterloo turned up the heat even more, plating 12 runs on just four hits, buoyed by errors, walks, and timely hitting from Austin Hurst, Vincent Mori, and Simons. Kyle Werbeck and Jacob Fortney also contributed to the scoring frenzy, driving in runs and taking full advantage of Sebring’s struggles on the field.

The onslaught continued in the third, with more errors by Sebring and hits from Derek Hupp, Fortney, Sam Russell, and Drew Flarida helping to extend the massive lead.

Werbeck picked up the win after pitching one inning, allowing two runs and striking out three. Despite the lopsided score, Sebring’s Logan Furry endured a tough outing, giving up 24 runs over three innings. Waterloo’s bullpen, featuring Adam Eichler and Mason Biltz, kept things tight with scoreless innings in relief.

At the plate, Waterloo was relentless, amassing 11 hits. Fortney led the charge with four RBIs from the ninth spot, showcasing the depth of their lineup. Werbeck, Hurst, and Flarida each had a multi-hit day, demonstrating Waterloo’s balanced attack.

The team also displayed disciplined batting, drawing 12 walks, with Werbeck, Mason Sweitzer, McClain, and Flarida each earning multiple free passes. Defensively, Waterloo was flawless, not committing a single error, with Fortney leading the team with nine plays.

For Sebring, Colby Kliffmuelles and Wyatt Sheen managed a hit each, with Kliffmuelles driving in both of Sebring’s runs.

Looking ahead, Waterloo aims to carry this momentum into their next game against Ravenna on Thursday.
