WEST BRANCH OVERPOWERS WARRIORS

By Michael Ginocchi

BELOIT  OH- The West Branch Warrior football team cruised to a 49-14 win over Carrollton on Friday night. This game had big implications on the EBC Championship with both teams coming in undefeated in conference play. The Warriors had no problem as they dominated from start to finish.

West Branch got on the board first when they marched right down the field as Boston Mulinix capped off the drive with a 1 yard touchdown run giving the Warriors an early 7-0 lead. However, Carrollton responded with a 57 yard run from Ryan Kiko to tie up the game at 7-7. Carrollton thought they had some momentum, but that’s when Jerimaih Thomas returned the kickoff 90 yards to the house. The opposing Warrior sideline was stunned in disbelief. West Branch led 42-14 at the half and never looked back!

Warrior quarterback Beau Alazaus and receiver Joey Jackson were on the same page throughout the majority of the game. Jackson caught three touchdown passes from Bo and made the catch of the night as he leaped over the Carrollton corner and came down with the catch in the back of the endzone. The night belonged to West Branch as they totally dominated the game offensively, defensively, and on special teams. Kicker Eliza Hirst continued her hot streak as she was successful on all  seven extra points.

With the win, West Branch improves to 8-1 (4-0 EBC)  overall on the season. The Warriors will travel to Salem next week for a week 10 rivalry matchup with the Quakers. Carrollton drops to 5-4 with the loss and will look to bounce back at Minerva.
