CLIPPERS BATS COME ALIVE LATE TO EARN SEASON SPLIT WITH LISBON

COLUMBIANA OH- Through 4 innings of play Tuesday night things were looking pretty good for the Lisbon Blue Devils. They led 4-0 after 4. Mya Emmerling was keeping the Clippers in check . Until the 5th that is when Columbiana erupted for 5 runs to take the lead. The Clippers would score 4 more in the 6th and secure a 9-4 win.

Lisbon got on the board first in the 3rd inning. Justyce Vrable led off with a double, then Kaity Clark knocked her in with a RBI single. Emmerling then doubled to score Clark. McKena Dailey hit in Emmerling with a RBI ground out and give the Devils the 3-0 lead. Lisbon got their fourth run in the top of the 5th when Mallory Gallow had an RBI groundout.

In the bottom of the fifth, Columbiana would get things rolling after struggling through 4 innings. The Clippers led off the inning with back to back singles, then Tori Long hit a sacrifice fly to make it 4-1. Mackenzi Gamble followed Long with a 2 rub blast to cut the deficit to 4-3. Maddy Hitchcock tied things up with a sacrifice fly. Cessna Stoy followed her up with the go ahead RBI double. Columbiana tacked on 4 more runs in the sixth to make it 9-4.

Gamble got the start in the circle. Her final line was 7.0 IP 7 H 4 ER 7 K 2 BB.

Emmerling stayed strong for a while but the Clippers bats caught fire and figured out her stuff. The final line for her looked like this 6.0 IP 13 H 9 7 ER 3 BB 2K.
