BATTLE OF THE WARRIORS GOES TO WEST BRANCH

By Michael Ginocchi

Beloit, OH
– The West Branch boys basketball team looked to continue their success after their hot start to the season against EBC foe Carrollton. After only leading by four at halftime, once again West Branch exploded in the second half to win 58-37 and improve to 9-2 (4-0 EBC).

Coach Loudon saw a quality performance from his team on both ends of the floor. Gavin Gregory was effective scoring 16 points while shooting a perfect 4-4 from the foul line. He was equally as good on the defensive end blocking shots and grabbing rebounds. Jeremiah Thomas, Joey Jackson, and Jaxon Robb all added 11 points to help the Warrior offense. Thomas also had the crowd roaring with his jaw dropping assists throughout the night. After a slow first 3 quarters for Cooper Anderson, he ended up with 8.

Carrollton kept it close in the first half only trailing by four, but unfortunately they struggled to find offensive coming out in the second half. Lincoln Mallarnee was a bright spot for the Warriors leading the way with 17. Andrew Birong also was solid, scoring 10 points.

West Branch improves to 9-2 (4-0 EBC) overall. The Warriors will head to Salem on Friday for a big rivalry matchup with the Quakers. With the loss, Carrollton drops to 2-9 on the season. They will look to bounce back on Friday at Minerva.
