BROOKFIELD BREAKS DOWN BLUE DEVIL DEFENSE

BROOKFIELD OH The Brookfield Warriors went big in their home opener as they played host to the Western Reserve Blue Devils as they would not allow a single touchdown and would put up over forty points. Defensively Brookfield was led by A.J. Bartolin who came out with a pick six and Brett Carsone who collected 3 interceptions on the night. Offensively Aiden Jones and Donovan Pawlowski had the biggest plays of the night for Brookfield. Western Reserve was led on both offense and defense by Jack Darney.

Brookfield received the kickoff around midfield after Western Reserve attempted a squib kick that was easily fielded. Brookfield would then drive it over sixty yards eventually finding Christian Davis on a rushing touchdown. Brookfield would then come out on the kickoff and recover an onside kick. Brookfield again would drive down the field and get another early touchdown. Brookfield would then attempt another onside kick that was recovered by Western Reserve and a big Jack Darney screen pass would set them up inside the ten-yard line. However, they would stall out and end up kicking a field goal to make the score 13-3.

Brookfield would collect every single score after that on the night after Western Reserve starting QB Luke Henning went down with an injury and Dom Ricciardi would take over. Ricciardi struggled as on his first drive he would throw an interception to Brett Carsone. Brookfield would drive and score again. Carsone would go on to intercept Ricciardi two more times on the night seemingly always being in the right place at the right time.

Western Reserve would ultimately lose the game 47-3 as Brookfield never let up and forced a running clock for the entire second half. The Blue Devils fell to (1-2) on the season and will move into MVAC Scarlet Tier play next week at home against (4-0) Jackson-Milton. Brookfield will hit the road yet again as they will begin MVAC Grey Tier play against (0-3) Liberty next week.
