SALEM SOCCER COACH’S CORNER (EP 2) WITH MIKE BAILEY & SPECIAL GUEST MAX KEMATS

SALEM OH- The Quakers soccer program is at an all time high on both the boys, and girls side. And it’s no surprise they are both succeeding considering they are led by the same staff. Mike Bailey and his crew are in charge of both programs, and have both running in the right direction. The boys team is coming off a huge win against West Branch, and the girls is looking ahead to a big matchup with the Warriors. The EBC championship will be on the line, and it promises to be a heck of a game. The Lady Quakers have finished with more wins than any other team in program history.

Coach Bailey, and senior captain Max Kemats took the time out of the day to come in to the studio and be on Running Point this week. We talk with them about both programs, the culture of Salem soccer, and so much more. WESTERN RESERVE FOOTBALL COACH’S CORNER (EP 1) WITH JASON LUDE

BERLIN CENTER OH- If you thought Western Reserve was dead in the water after the first three weeks of the season, you would have been dead wrong. The Blue Devils have come back from their tough start to emerge as one of the hottest teams in the area. Reserve is coming off their fourth straight win in Week 7 as they pulled out a close one in Lowellville. Their streak is on the line in Week 8 against maybe their toughest opponent yet. The Devils will travel to the Tiger’s den in Springfield to try and upset Springfield.

Head coach Jason Lude caught up with the boys on YSN’s Running Point this week. He talks with Anthony Hartwig, and Ty Bartell about how his team responded from being 0-3, previews the matchup with Springfield, and much more. LIBERTY FOOTBALL COACH’S CORNER (EP 1) WITH JOE SIMON

LIBERTY OH- The Liberty Leopards have been an interesting team to watch this year. They have definitely had the ups and downs that come with most football seasons. Finding themselves in plenty of close games, up until week 7 the Leopards had struggled with making game winning plays in close affairs. However, in Week 7 the Leopards found themselves down by a score and dug deep with a final minute drive to beat the Flashes. Liberty looks ahead to a road game at Newton Falls in Week 8.

STRUTHERS FOOTBALL COACH’S CORNER (EP 1) WITH JOHN BAYUK

STRUTHERS OH- The Wildcats have faced a brutal schedule in 2021. Through all the tough teams here they stand after 7 weeks with a winning record of 4-3. The Wildcats lost three games in a row to Streetsboro, South Range, then Hubbard. To add to the adversity, the Wildcats have had to put in new players in new places to adjust to injuries. Through it all the Wildcats have a playoff spot to contend for.

VALLEY CHRISTIAN COACH’S CORNER (EP 5) WITH ANDY HAKE

BOARDMAN, OH- Week seven saw head coach Andy Hake and the Valley Christian Eagles host Columbiana. The Eagles came out flying on offense to take care of business with another EOAC victory. Up next for the Eagles will be a tough EOAC home test against the Indians on Saturday night.

YSN’s own, DJ Yokley, had the opportunity to sit down with Coach Hake and a couple special guests at Kufleitner Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram of Boardman this week to discuss the week seven battle with Columbiana, what the Eagles need to focus on this week to keep the focus and get another big conference win, what he and his staff have in store for us Saturday night, and what Coach is doing to maintain focus as the playoffs are approaching fast as the Eagles are currently in the 8th seed in Region 25 for Division VII. CANFIELD GIRLS SOCCER COACH’S CORNER (EP 1) WITH PHIL SIMONE

CANFIELD OH- The Canfield girls soccer program has had sustained success in the last decade. This year is no different, as the Cardinals have clinched at least a share of yet another AAC championship. It hasn’t mattered all too much that they’ve had to put some players in new positions. The Cardinals haven’t missed a beat, and have earned themselves a 12-1-0 record on the season. They look ahead to a match up at home against Boardman on Monday.

Head Coach Phil Simone has put in twenty plus years at Canfield. He took the time this week out of his busy schedule to talk to Anthony Hartwig about the season. CANFIELD FOOTBALL COACH’S CORNER (EP. 9) WITH MIKE PAVLANSKY

CANFIELD, OH – Coming off the most impressive game of the 2021 season so far, head coach Mike Pavlansky and the Canfield Cardinals are flying higher than ever before as week eight will see the Cards host Youngstown East on Friday night. Last week Canfield flexed their muscles against a talented Austintown Fitch team en route to a 41-10 victory at Bob Dove Field.

YSN’s own, Richie Juliano, had the opportunity to catch up with Coach Pav this week at Cocca’s Pizza in Canfield to talk all about the huge victory in week seven, what Coach thinks this team is capable of achieving this season as the playoffs begin to keep up on everyone, how impressive this Cardinals team is as they are now outscoring their opponents, 181-37, since their only loss on the season against Dover, and what Coach’s keys to the game are for this Friday night against East as the Cards will look to improve to 7-1 on the season, and so much more!

EDISON FOOTBALL COACH’S CORNER (EP 1) WITH MIKE COLLOPY

RICHMOND OH- The Edison football program is in the middle of a massive turnaround. Just two seasons ago, and their last full 10 game season the Wildcats went 0-10. Last season, they put three wins up. Now in 2021, the Wildcats are 5-2 and sit at number 8 in the current computer polls. First year head coach Mike Collopy attributes the turnaround to his team’s leadership and buy in. The Wildcats are coming off a 34-24 win over East Liverpoool, and looking forward to a Week 8 battle with Harrison Central.

WINDHAM VOLLEYBALL COACH’S CORNER (EP 1) WITH LAUREN GINTERT

WINDHAM OH- The Windham volleyball team has been riding the roller coaster that can be a season in 2021. The Bombers come in to the week with a record of 7-8. One thing that head coach Lauren Gintert wants to see in the last few weeks of the season is consistency. They will have a chance to begin their final stretch on Tuesday night at Chalker. Next week, the Bombers will close their season with four games in four days.

Coach Gintert took the time this week to call in to YSN’s Running Point to give us an update on her team. She talks with Anthony Hartwig, and Ty Bartell about leaders that have stepped up for them, her biggest surprise so far, and much more. LISBON FOOTBALL COACH’S CORNER (EP 1) WITH MATT ALTOMARE

LISBON OH- The Lisbon Blue Devils got their first win of the season in Week 6 over East Palestine. Matt Altomare is in his second season as the head coach at Lisbon, and things are finally starting to take shape the way he envisioned.

Coach will be the first to tell you how tough it is to be s first year head coach in a season as chaotic as 2020 was. He called it “year 0.” With the uncertainty of everything, it made it difficult to really build a culture. So if last season was year 0, that means this season is year 1. It is still a season in the shadows of COVID, but it has become a lot easier for the Blue Devils to grow as a unit.
