CHAMPION KEEPS THE PEDAL DOWN ON BULLDOGS

Champion stole the lead late in the game in an 11-5 victory over Lakeview on Thursday. The game was tied at four with the Flashes batting in the bottom of the fifth when Aaron Ellsworth doubled on a 3-1 count, scoring one run.

Champion secured the victory thanks to six runs in the fifth inning. The Flashes offense in the inning was led by Ellsworth, Nathan Holt, Tyler Skaggs, Joseph Fell, and Zachary Bickel, all driving in runs in the frame.

Champion took an early lead in the second inning. Fell singled on the first pitch of the at bat, scoring one run.

Bickel was the winning pitcher for Champion. The southpaw surrendered one run on one hit over three innings, striking out three.

Jack O’Shuaghnessy started the game for Champion Flashes Varsity. The righty lasted four innings, allowing seven hits and four runs while striking out one

Champion Flashes Varsity racked up seven hits. Fell and Ellsworth each collected multiple hits. Ellsworth and Fell all had two hits to lead.
