COLUMBIANA CHASES PERFECTION

COLUMBIANA, OH-  Chase Franken (4-4) threw a perfect game in Columbiana’s (5-10) 12-0 win over Wellsville (3-7) Thursday afternoon in five innings.  Franken struck out 10 hitters and contributed with two other putouts in his 61 pitch effort.

The Clippers got started early scoring 3 runs in the bottom of the first highlighted by Franken’s RBI triple and runs scored by Franken and Ryan Fahs on wild pitches.  The Clippers would tack on 2 more in the 3rd and 7 in the bottom of the fourth to put the game away.

Ryan Fahs was 3-3 on the day with an RBI and 3 runs scored.  Joe Bable had a double and a single and two RBI.  Zach Fahs doubled and Wayne Davis picked up his first varsity hit and RBI with a fourth-inning single. AJ Perkins extended his hit streak to 10 games as part of the fourth inning rally.

Columbiana is off until Monday when the Clippers will welcome the Eagles from United to Legion Field.  First pitch is scheduled for 5 PM.
