CRESTVIEW GOES DEEP INTO THE NIGHT FOR A VICTORY

COLUMBIANA, OHIO- The Crestview Rebels took the lead late and defeated Springfield 11-10 on Friday.

The game was tied at ten with the Rebels batting in the bottom of the sixth when an error scored one run. Both offenses were strong at the plate as the Rebels collected 11 hits and the Tigers had 12 in the high-scoring affair.

Springfield opened up an early lead in the second inning when Jackson Ensley singled on a 1-0 count, scoring one run. After Springfield scored two runs in the top of the third, the Rebels answered with two of their own.  Springfield scored again when Brayden Butler’s sac fly scored one run for Springfield and Ryan Matey singled on the first pitch of the at bat, scoring one run.

The Rebels then answered right back when Hunter DuVall singled on a 0-1 count, scoring one run and Cade Hancox grounded out, scoring one run.

Cayden Booth earned the win for the Rebels as the righthander allowed zero hits and zero runs over one and two-thirds innings, striking out one and walking zero. Zack Davis threw two and a third innings in relief out of the bullpen.

Butler took the loss for Springfield. The hurler allowed five hits and six runs over two innings, striking out two.
