CORTLAND, OH- Lakeview stayed in it until the end, but Hubbard pulled away late in an 11-5 victory on Wednesday. Hubbard was down 4-3 in the top of the sixth inning when Haley Croyle homered, driving in two.
Hubbard scored four runs in the seventh inning including a clutch home run by Hannah Kist.
Croyle was the winning pitcher for Hubbard. She allowed six hits and five runs over seven innings, striking out nine. Cait Kelm took the loss for Lakeview Bulldogs Varsity. She went seven strong innings, allowing 11 runs on 15 hits, striking out five and walking one.
Hubbard collected 15 hits. Kist, Giavanna Hosack, Kellsie Leshnak, Sydney Bowser, and Emily Filicky each managed multiple hits for Hubbard. Kist led Hubbard with three hits in four at-bats. Hubbard didn’t commit a single error in the field. Kist had eight chances in the field, the most on the team.
