FITCH FINDS A WAY IN DOUBLE OVERTIME

AUSTINTOWN OH- In a thrilling matchup, Fitch continued a winning streak by narrowly outlasting St. Ignatius 24-21 in a gripping two-overtime battle. The first quarter was marked by both offenses struggling to find the end zone. However, the second quarter saw Fitch break the deadlock as Brady Evans caught a 12-yard touchdown pass from DeShawn Vaughn, capping an impressive 80-yard drive and giving Fitch a 7-0 lead at the half.

St. Ignatius responded in the third quarter when Max Woidke intercepted a pass and returned it 65 yards for a pick-six, leveling the score at 7-7. The fourth quarter featured a back-and-forth battle, with Grant Washington running for a 2-yard TD, putting St. Ignatius ahead 14-7. Fitch answered with a determined 13-play, 80-yard drive that culminated in Deon’Dray Richard’s 1-yard rushing TD, tying the game at 14-14 with just 3 seconds left on the clock.

Overtime brought more drama as DeShawn Vaughn powered his way into the end zone with an 8-yard rushing TD, putting Fitch ahead 21-14.
