FITCH TESTS THEIR LUCK; UPEND URSULINE

AUSTINTOWN, OH- The Fitch Falcons grabbed an early lead on its way to a 9-5 victory over Ursuline on Wednesday. The Falcons scored on a single by Jack Knight in the first inning, a double by Donavan Bell-Sullivan in the first inning, and a single by Jackson Cheeks in the second inning.

Ursuline scored three runs in the fourth inning, but Fitch still managed to pull out the victory. The Irish scored its runs on a home run by Jack Ericson.

Fitch scored four runs in the fifth inning. The Falcons’ big inning was driven by a single by Drew Kaschak and a double by Cheeks.

Mason Petridis was credited with the victory for Austintown-Fitch. The pitcher allowed eight hits and four runs over six innings, striking out seven. Knight threw one inning in relief out of the bullpen. Knight recorded the last three outs to earn the save for the Falcons.

Tom Groner took the loss for Ursuline. The righty surrendered five runs on six hits over three and a third innings, striking out four.

The Falcons racked up 11 hits. Bell-Sullivan, Cheeks, and Knight all managed multiple hits for Fitch. Bell-Sullivan went 3-for-4 at the plate to lead the team in hits. Austintown-Fitch was sure-handed and didn’t commit a single error. Jake Wallace made the most plays with nine.

Ursuline racked up ten hits on the day. Ericson, Luca Ricchiuti, and Anthony Triveri all collected multiple hits for the Irish.
