GIRARD HANDS BULLDOGS THEIR FIRST LOSS

CORTLAND OH- Girard came in to Thursday’s matchup with Lakeview needing a win to keep any hopes of grabbing a piece of the NE8.  It would not be an easy task, but the Indians pulled through and won 3 consecutive sets after falling the first to win in four. (20-25 26-24 25-23 25-22)

Lauren Pallone had a heck of a night leading the Indians with 24 kills. She only committed 5 errors, and unofficially hit at a percentage of .395.  Bree Latell contributed an important 11 kills. Nico Cochran finished with 9 kills, 6 of which came in the final set. Ali Durkin ran the offense at a high level finishing with 41 assists.  Bailey Walters led the back row with 16 digs, Latell finished with 14 to complete a double double.

Tara Lytle had a good day in the middle for Lakeview with 20 kills.  Mallory Mailach led the team setting wise finishing the night with 24.  Maddie Bayus led the Lakeview defense with 18 digs.  Mailach finished with a game-high 4 aces at the service line, and hit 13 service points.

Girard has a big test next as they will host Austintown Fitch on Monday. Lakeview will travel to Perry on Saturday to compete in the Perry Tournament.
