SALEM PUTS THE CHILL ON THE AVIATORS

SALEM OH- It may have felt like the middle of February but the Quaker offense was red hot Wednesday night at Ray Reasbeck Field putting up ten runs to take down the Alliance Aviators in 6 innings and earn their 9th straight victory. After starting pitcher Carson Rhodes wriggled out of a first inning bases loaded jam without surrendering a run, the offense went to work. Blaize Exline led off the game with a base hit to left field. After stealing second base and advancing to third on a wild pitch, Darius Beck drove him home with a fielder’s choice to the shortstop.

The Quakers weren’t done though as with two outs, Gavin Wilms had a base hit, and then went first to third on a base hit from left hander Corey Riesen and would score on a base hit by Carson Rhodes to make it 2-0 good guys.

Exline would provide another jolt of offense in the second as he hit a laser beam home run over the left field fence to make it 3-0 Salem.

The Quakers would add 4 in the third inning on the strength of a another RBI single by Rhodes, a throwing error from the catcher that let Riesen score, an RBI double by Lance Bailey and a fielders choice by Cayden Burt that scored Brock Young making it 7-0 Salem.

That was plenty of support for Carson Rhodes as he threw all 6 innings punching out 8 Alliance batters allowing 3 hits and zero runs to earn his 4th win of the year.

The Quakers would walk it off in the 6th as Rhodes continued his impressive day with a 2 run single to right field to give him 3 RBI’s on the day. The game would come to an end on a Cayden Burt single to left field scoring Corey Riesen.

The Quakers are now 10-3 overall and 5-3 in the EBC. The Quakers will try and make it 10 in a row tomorrow as they will host Minerva with the first pitch set for 5 pm.
