HOSCHAR, SPOONER COMBINE FOR NO-NO; COLUMBIANA BLANKS BULLDOGS

NEW WATERFORD, OH- Columbiana’s Logan Hoschar (1-0) pitched 4 strong hitless innings followed by a hitless frame by Seth Spooner to combine for the no-hitter in Columbiana’s (2-1, 2-0 EOAC) 13-0 win over East Palestine (0-3, 0-3) on Monday afternoon at Next Level Sports Complex.

Hoschar’s first start of the year got off to an auspicious start as he walked the first two batters he would face.  Hoschar would then reel off seven straight strikeouts as he started to find the zone consistently.  Hoschar would finish the game with 8 strikeouts.  Spooner entered in the fifth inning striking out the side to close out the game.

Spooner was also a force at the plate adding two hits including a three-run home run in the fourth in his five rbi day. Zachary Pleska hit a 2 run triple to break a scoreless tie in the third.  Bayden Pipoly added a double and scored three runs for the winners.

The Clippers and Bulldogs will face off again tomorrow at Firestone Park to close out the two-game EOAC series.  The first pitch is scheduled for 5 PM.
