HUBBARD MAKES IT TWO CLOSE WINS OVER GIRARD

HUBBARD, OHIO- Despite seeing its four-run lead whittled down by the end, the Hubbard Eagles still held off the Girard Indians for a 5-4 victory on Thursday.

The Indians scored four runs in the failed comeback on a single by Jordan Johnson in the fifth, a single by Jake Dohy in the fifth, and a walk by Kyle Bourlier in the seventh.

The Eagles scattered nine hits in the game as Gabe Rusnak and Braydon Songer all managed multiple hits. Michael Biro led the Hubbard Eagles to victory on the mound. The pitcher allowed four hits and three runs over four and two-thirds innings, striking out eight.  Richie Sandberg and Andrew Kali entered the game out of the bullpen and helped to close out the game in relief. 

Dohy and Johnson each managed multiple hits for Girard as Dominick Tolone was on the mound for the Indians and allowed seven hits and four runs over five innings, striking out four. Jaden Royal threw one inning in relief out of the bullpen.

Hubbard will return to the diamond when Ursuline comes into town on Friday. First pitch will be at 5:00 p.m. Girard will host Salem at home on Friday at 5:00 p.m.
