INDIANS PULL OFF UPSET OF HUBBARD
HUBBARD, Ohio –
Trying to stay perfect in the conference, the Hubbard Lady Eagles played host to the Girard Indians. Both offenses would start slow is this one, failing to produce any runs through the first 2 innings.
Although it took them a while to get started, the Girard Indians would explode in the top of the third. After two singles and an error to load the bases, Sophie Griffith doubled off the center field wall to bring in 2 runs.
After a strikeout by Girard’s K Culver, another error from the Hubbard defense allowed the Indians third run of the inning to come across.Then a fly ball to center field off the bat of T Owens would allow Griffith to cross homeplatebefore the trail runner was thrown out at third.
The Lady Eagles wouldn’t respond until later in the fourth inning. With a single to start the inning by Gillian Ryser, senior Haley Croyle would single to right field to bring in Ryser. Croyle would later come across to score thanks to a single by J Juillerat.
The two conference foes would trade runs in the fifth and sixth, making the score 5-3 as they headed into the final inning of play. In the top of the seventh inning the error bug would again bite the Lady Eagles as they allowed their fourth run off the game off an error.
Unable to rally in their final half inning of play, the Lady Eagles dropped their first conference game of the season, losing 6-3.
