East Ashtabula, OH- In a closely contested girls’ CVC basketball matchup, the Edgewood Warriors faced their first defeat of the season against the Perry Pirates. The final scores for each quarter were as follows:

The Edgewood Warriors entered the game with an impressive 15-0 record but faced a tough challenge from the Perry Pirates. The Warriors, who were averaging 62 points per game, struggled offensively, managing to score only 36 points throughout the game.

Despite the setback, individual performances from Katie Mccollister, Leigha Guyton, and Avery Vencill showcased the Warriors’ resilience. The team will look to bounce back in their next game on the road against the Jefferson Falcons (9-8) on 2/3/24. The Falcons are coming off a 50-44 victory against the Madison Blue Streaks.

On the other side, the Perry Pirates (11-6) secured a notable victory, displaying a well-rounded effort from Jaidyn Newsome, Audrey Austin, Mia Lynch, and Victoria Lynch. The Pirates will continue their season with a home game against the Harvey Red Raiders (5-14) on 2/2/24. The Red Raiders are entering the matchup with momentum after a 45-35 win over the Lakeside Dragons.

The Warriors will use this game as a learning experience and aim to maintain their dominance as they head into the latter part of the season.
