LOWRY AND THE RAIDERS LEAVE POLAND LOOKING FOR ANSWERS

CANFIELD OH- In a thrilling NE8 matchup on Thursday, South Range continued their momentum from a dramatic win over Springfield, securing a significant 45-41 victory against NE8 leader Poland. The Raiders utilized a crucial 15-5 run in the second quarter to establish a lead, and despite Poland’s second-half rallies, South Range made pivotal plays when it mattered most, clinching only their second win in 11 NE8 matchups against Poland since the 2018-2019 season.

Gwen Lowry played a pivotal role for South Range, delivering an outstanding double-double performance with 20 points and 12 rebounds. This performance tied her for the most points scored by a Raider against Poland in NE8 play, matching Izzy Lamparty’s 20 point performance in 2021.

Devin Sauerwein contributed 10 points, and Sydney Penick added 5 points to the Raiders’ scoring effort.

Poland, led by Mary Brant with 17 points and Leanne Williams with 10 points, showcased a competitive effort, with five other Bulldogs contributing to the stat sheet.

With this impressive upset, South Range improves to a 4-7 record and will carry the momentum into their upcoming league game against Niles on Monday. Poland, now standing at 6-4, will face a non-conference matchup against Crestview on Saturday at 12:30.
