MCDONALD CLAIMS PROGRAM’S FIRST DISTRICT CROWN

In a historic triumph, McDonald’s volleyball team claimed their program’s first-ever district championship by sweeping conference rival Western Reserve with scores of 25-20, 25-22, and 25-17. This victory was particularly sweet for McDonald, as they had previously been bested twice by Western Reserve in the regular season.

McDonald’s star players stepped up to secure this monumental win. Gianna Costantino put on a remarkable performance with 14 kills and 13 digs, achieving a well-deserved double-double. Juliana Krumpak demonstrated her versatility with 8 kills and an impressive 16 digs, while Grace Bundy contributed 11 kills and 7 digs. Lauren Sierra added 6 kills to the team’s tally. Megan Klockner orchestrated the offense with 31 assists and made her presence known with 9 digs and 2 aces, while Miley Titus was a stalwart on the defensive end with 11 digs, 3 assists, and 1 ace.

Western Reserve, although valiant, couldn’t secure the victory in the championship match. Alyvia Hughes led her team with 17 kills and 19 digs, showcasing her skill on both sides of the court. Lisa Eichert’s 13 kills and 19 digs marked a significant milestone in her career, surpassing 1000 kills and 1000 digs. Haylee Fellows contributed 17 assists and 6 digs, and Angelina Cappabianca added 4 kills and 3 blocks.

With this historic district championship win, McDonald demonstrated their resilience and determination. They now look forward to the Regional Semifinals, set to take place on Thursday, November 2, in Strongsville. In this next stage of their journey, McDonald will face off against Canton Central Catholic at 7:30.
