ONE RUN IS ALL WHITING NEEDS FOR VICTORY

STRUTHERS OH- It’s not very often you come across a true pitcher’s duel in baseball anymore. With so much focus on offense, a 1-0 has become an anomaly. For Whiting, and Prospects 18U teams it apparently needed to happen. Both teams were electric on the mound, but Whitibg came out on top 1-0.

Brady Shannon got the game winning RBI going 1-3 on the day.  He knocked in Cooper Vance who went 1-2 with a walk. Anthony Malagise led Whiting in hits going 2-2.

It was the pitcher’s who shined the brightest in this battle. Shannon got the win for Whiting. He went 2 innings and gave up 0 runs on 0 hits.  Marc Conti took the bulk of the work throwing 4 innings and giving up 0 runs on 3 hits. He struck out a pair.

Although Prospects only managed 4 hits, they did draw 6 walks. Robert Gumino went 1-2 with a walk on the day.  A.J Stallsmith had identical numbers going 1-2 with a walk.  Olindo Pezzone went 1-3 on the day.

Nick Church took the loss as he tossed all 6 innings and gave up 1 run on 5 hits.  He struck out 6 hitters, and used 92 pitches to get through the game. That’s an average of just over 15 pitches per inning.
