REBELS SECURE A SPOT IN DISTRICTS

HANOVERTON OH- Crestview’s girls’ soccer team showcased their determination and skill on Wednesday in a Division III soccer sectional final, ensuring that their regular-season win over United was not just a one-time success. In a thrilling contest, Crestview’s Karagin Miller proved to be the hero with a stunning free-kick goal into the upper right corner, giving the 11th-seeded Rebels a hard-fought 2-1 victory.

The match was marked by several crucial moments, with Crestview getting on the scoreboard first. Rylee Shaffer managed to score with a well-executed header, capitalizing on a corner kick from Miller with 21:07 left in the first half. However, United quickly responded as Addy Blazer found the back of the net with an assist from Kaylynn Centofanti, tying the game at 1-1 with 9:01 remaining in the first half.

With the match hanging in the balance, Karagin Miller emerged as the hero, converting a free kick with a precision shot into the upper right corner, putting Crestview ahead 2-1 with just 15 minutes left.

Katie Dees, the Eagles’ goalkeeper, displayed her skills with eight saves, keeping United’s hopes alive throughout the match.

With this thrilling victory, Crestview advances to the district semifinal, where they will face the fifth-seeded Badger at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.
