SALEM OFFENSE TRUMPS EAST PALESTINE

UNITY, OH- Meg Rossero sparked the Salem offense with a lead-off triple in the top of the 2nd. She would score on Hannah Kelm RBI to give the Quakers the early 1-0 lead. Meg also added a single later as her bat is beginning to sizzle. With one out in the top of the 5th, another senior Jessica Slocum laid down a bunt single to lead things off in an inning in which Salem scored 3 times. With two outs the Quakers slammed back to back to back hits to open things up some. Elly Exline with an RBI single up the middle, Taylor Thorpe an RBI bloop single to right center and Hayden Carner with an RBI double to left that traveled 210 ft. Hayden’s shot would have been out of 90% of parks. Hannah Kelm added a single to the 9 hit attack. Thorpe, Rossero, and Exline had a multiple hit game. Elly Exline also stole another base and leads the team.

On defense Meg Rossero took a hit away in right field with a running snag on a would be hit. Hayden Carner made back to back catches on balls that were blooped up around the plate including a nice diving catch. Hayden sure can get that mask off. Speaking of Hayden – she won Big Dog of the week sponsored by Baird Brothers and YSN Live. Well deserved and congrats Big Dog!

Taylor Thorpe struck out 15 including a streak of 7 in a row and 5 straight to close out the game. Twelve of the Ks were swinging. She pitched the complete game (7ip) allowing just 2 hits, 0 earned runs while walking just 1.
