STRUTHERS EDGES OUT FALCONS IN THE FIELDHOUSE

STRUTHERS, OH – As we inch closer and closer to tournament play, we all know the games will be more intense and tougher matchups. That was the case in the OT thriller we witnessed in Struthers, Tuesday night as the Wildcats hosted Austintown Fitch. Struthers started out hot, looking like they were going to put up a very sizable victory over the Falcons. The Wildcats led by ten at half and also at the end of the third quarter. The fourth quarter is where the Falcons got life and even took their first lead since the open minutes of the game. DeShawn Vaugnh Jr. hit a massive three for the Falcons with under a minute to play in regulation to go up 63-62. Struthers senior Dante Colorissi split free throw shots to tie the game up and send it to OT. In overtime, it was a back and forth affair. But thanks to Struthers junior Chance Laczko who hit a massive three of his own, the Wildcats got the victory over the Falcons, 77-75.

For Struthers, Sal Shaffer led the way with 21 points. Ronnie Leonard added 17, Dante Colorissi contributed 14, Nick Delgratta put 12, and Chance Laczko ended with 10 on the night.

For Austintown, Allen Underwood led the Falcons with a game-high 28 points. DeShawn Vaugnh Jr. contributed a game-high 20 points on the night.

Struthers will be back in action on Friday, as they will travel to Lakeview in a NE8 matchup. Austintown will be back in action on Thursday, as they will host Warren Harding. Don’t miss it on YSN!
