WELLSVILLE TAKES FIRST PLACE IN THE EOAC

YOUNGSTOWN, OH – When at least a share of a championship is on the line, you have to be locked in. That is how it was in the matchup between Wellsville and Valley Christian Tuesday night. It seemed like the Tigers would easily run away with a victory early in the first half, thanks to junior Isaiah Greathouse who pushed Wellsville to a 31-17 lead at half. But the Eagles found life in the second half to make it an intense 39-31 game with the Tigers still leading. Valley’s Joey Battista lit up the court with three’s late in the game to cut the Tigers lead down to just 3, making it 44-41. It was not enough for the Eagles as Wellsville pushed back to extend their lead further to get the victory and the share of the EOAC championship, 52-46.

For Wellsville, Isaiah Greathouse led the way with a game-high 27 points. Edward Stock and Jaxon Brewer both added 8 on the night respectively.

For Valley Christian, Joey Battista led the way with 21 points. Jhordan Peete and  Jon’Trell Mixon both contributed 8 respectively for the Eagles.

Wellsville will look for the outright EOAC Championship win Saturday as they will host Leetonia. Valley Christian will be back in action on Thursday as they are set to host Academy for Urban Scholars. Don’t miss it on YSN!
