BLUE JAYS STAY UNBEATEN

In a very rainy golf match today, the blue jays persevered and continued their success by beating Warren G. Harding to move to a perfect 4-0 on the season. In a shorted 5 hole match due to weather, the team was highlighted by Junior, Josh Donaldson and Freshman, Hunter Schertzer who both finished with a 21 for their round. Following, was Nicolai Scandy 26, and Ryen Romigh 28. The Blue Jays look to continue their success in their final match of the week tomorrow, when they face Sebring and Springfield in a tri-match at Olde Dutch Mill Golf Course. The match is set to tee off at 3:45 pm. Complete scores are listed below.

BLUE JAYS TAKE FIRST PLACE

NORTH JACKSON OH- Jackson played in their first tri-match on the season VS LaBrae and Windham Tuesday afternoon at Olde Dutch Mill Golf Course. The Blue Jays continued their success by beating both Windham and Labrae to move to a perfect 3-0 on the season. The Blue Jays were highlighted by Junior, Aaren Romigh who finished with a PR 44 for his round. Following, was Nicolai Scandy 49, Josh Donaldson 50, and Hunter Schertzer 50. The Blue Jays look to continue their success today, when they face Warren Harding HS at Trumbull Country Club beginning at 10:00 am. Complete scores are listed below.

JACKSON MILTON VOLLEYBALL COACH’S CORNER (EP 1) WITH STEPHEN MOHR

NORTH JACKSON OH- The Blue Jays volleyball program is under new management. After a sustained era of success under coach Sue Prozy, Stephen Mohr has taken the reigns and plans to take the Jackson Milton program to the next level. Last season, the Jays racked up 17 wins and finished 2nd in the MVAC. With ten letter winners returning, there is no reason to think the Jays wont be contenders again. Jackson Milton opens the season with 3 games in 3 days starting August 23rd hosting East Canton.

Coach Mohr hopped on to YSN’s Running Point this week to talk about his new job, and the upcoming season. He chats with Ty Bartell, and Anthony Hartwig about building a culture, creating a youth development program, and much more. The dawn of a new era begins in North Jackson and you can be the first to hear from the new head coach in Episode 1 of Coach’s Corner with Stephen Mohr.

JACKSON MILTON FOOTBALL COACH’S CORNER (EP 1) WITH NATE BRODE

NORTH JACKSON OH- We are under about a month away from the start of high school football season and the Jackson Milton program is going to look to continue to take steps in the right direction. Jackson Milton finished the shortened 2020 season with a record of 6-3. That was one more win than in 2019. The Jays open the 2021 season as of now August 27th at Newton Falls.  They are actively looking for an  opponent to fill Week 1.  Chalker was originally scheduled but had to back out of that game.

Blue Jays head coach Nate Brode was nice enough to call in to YSN’s Running Point this week to preview their 2021 season. He talks with Ron Potesta about what the Blue Jays return this season, what might be some obstacles, and much more. Fans won’t want to miss this exclusive preview of the Jackson Milton season with Episode 1 of Coach’s Corner with Nate Brode.

RESERVE PULLS OFF UPSET OF TOP SEEDED BLUE JAYS

FAIRPORT HARBOR OH-

Western Reserve jumped out to an early lead over Jackson-Milton and took home a 6-3 victory on Tuesday. The Blue Devils scored on a single by Gabe Platt in the first inning, a single by Mike VanCise in the second inning, a double by Jake Pappagallo in the second inning, and a groundout by Seth Phillips in the second inning.

Jackson-Milton evened things up at one in the bottom of the first inning when Aaron Romigh singled on a 1-0 count, scoring one run.

Western Reserve pulled away for good with three runs in the second inning. In the second VanCise singled on a 1-1 count, scoring one run, Pappagallo doubled on a 0-2 count, scoring one run, and Phillips grounded out, scoring one run.

Pappagallo earned the victory on the pitcher’s mound for Western Reserve. The hurler went seven innings, allowing three runs on seven hits, striking out nine and walking one.

Mason Robison took the loss for Jackson-Milton. The hurler lasted one and one-third innings, allowing seven hits and four runs while striking out one and walking zero.

Western Reserve smacked one home run on the day. Phillips went for the long ball in the fifth inning.

The Blue Devils tallied 11 hits in the game. Pappagallo and Alex Mayorga each collected multiple hits. Mayorga and Pappagallo all had two hits to lead.

Billy Sloan went 2-for-4 at the plate to lead the Blue Jays in hits.

ROMIGH TOSSES NO HITTER TO ADVANCE BLUE JAYS TO DISTRICTS

NO 1. Blue Jays win Sectional Final

The number one seeded Jackson-Milton Blue Jays took on the Leetonia Bears in the sectional final game on Thursday night.

The Blue Jays got off to a hot start scoring 6 runs in the first game. The offense would keep up the rest of the game and total 12 runs on 9 hits. The Blue Jays were led by Gavin Sahli who was 2-3 at the dish with 2 RBI’s.

Jackson-Milton got a no hit night out of their starter Aaren Romigh, who went 5 complete inning with no hits allowed.

Jackson Milton won the ballgame by a final score of 12-0 after 5 innings. They will take on Western Reserve next Tuesday for the district semifinals.

BLUE JAYS BRING HOME VICTORY OVER MCDONALD

MCDONALD OH-

An early lead helped Jackson Milton defeat McDonald 7-5 on Tuesday. The Blue Jays scored on a error in the second inning, a sacrifice fly by Aaren Landis in the second inning, a groundout by Owen McDevitt in the second inning, and a single by Frankie Prozy in the second inning.

After McDonald scored one run in the top of the third, Jackson Milton answered with one of their own. McDonald scored when Nick Ferradino’s sac fly scored one run. The Blue Jays then answered when Logan Sokol singled on a 3-1 count, scoring one run.

Jackson Milton pulled away for good with four runs in the second inning. In the second an error scored one run, Landis’s sac fly scored one run, McDevitt grounded out, scoring one run, and Prozy singled on a 3-1 count, scoring one run.

Aaren Romigh led the Blue Jays to victory on the hill. The righty surrendered five runs on eight hits over four and two-thirds innings, striking out four. Gavin Sahli threw two and a third innings in relief out of the bullpen.

Zach Shobel was on the hill for McDonald. The pitcher surrendered six runs on six hits over four innings, striking out three. Nolan Agler threw two innings out of the bullpen.

Cole Grope, Mason Robison, Sahli, Prozy, Landis, and Sokol each collected one hit to lead Jackson Milton.

McDonald saw the ball well today, racking up eight hits in the game. Miles Culp and Wyatt Wolford each collected multiple hits for McDonald. Culp led with three hits in four at bats.

NEW MIDDLETOWN OH-

Springfield wins contest against Jackson-Milton on Monday, 4-2

In the first inning, the Tigers got their offense started when Haleigh McCalla’s sac fly scored one run.

McCalla pitched Springfield to victory. The pitcher went five innings, allowing two runs on four hits, striking out ten and walking one.

Riley Headley took the loss for Jackson-Milton. The bulldog allowed six hits and four runs over six innings, striking out seven.

Abby Joseph started the game for the Tigers. The hurler surrendered zero runs on one hit over two innings, striking out one and walking one

Joseph went 2-for-3 at the plate to lead Springfield in hits.

LANDIS THROWS SHUT OUT FOR BLUE JAYS

SEBRING OH-

Aaren Landis threw a shutout to lead Jackson Milton past Sebring 8-0 on Saturday.

The Blue Jays opened up scoring in the first inning, when Aaren Romigh doubled on the first pitch of the at bat, scoring one run.

The Blue Jays notched three runs in the fourth inning. Romigh, Jake Gross, and Eddie Gursky each had RBIs in the frame.

One bright spot for Sebring was a single by Matt Byrd in the first inning.

Landis got the win for Jackson Milton. The pitcher surrendered zero runs on three hits over five innings, striking out seven.

Byrd toed the rubber for McKinley. The hurler surrendered five runs on five hits over three innings, striking out three.

The Blue Jays collected six hits on the day. Romigh and Cole Grope each managed multiple hits. Romigh led with three hits in four at bats.

CALLOW SETS MULTIPLE MILESTONES IN MCDONALD VICTORY

MCDONALD OH- Bri Callow needed every ounce of magic as she found herself in a crazy pitcher’s duel with Jackson Milton’s Riley Headley. McDonald came out on top 1-0.

Callow threw a gem. She went all 7 innings striking out 19. She slowed only one hit, and didn’t walk a single hitter. Callow’s 19 strikeouts helped her eclipse 500 career strikeouts. She has 502 total now. Bri also broke her own school record for strikeouts in a season. She now has 238 K’s on the year.

Micayle Thornhill went toe to toe with Callow in the circle for the Blue Jays. She only gave up 1 run. McDonald only managed 5 hits against her. She struck out a pair of Blue Devils. Riley Headley had the only hit of the day for Jackson Milton.

Lucia Wolford went 2-3 at the plate for McDonald with the lone RBI of the night. Callow also had 2 hits.  Chelsea Sudol gathered a hit as well.
