SIX RUN SEVENTH SEALS LISBON OVER BEAVER LOCAL

EAST LIVERPOOL, OH- A six-run seventh inning led Lisbon to a 9-2 victory on Wednesday over Beaver Local. The big inning was thanks to a single by Nick Mundy, a sac fly by Justin Sweeney, by Brice Blackburn, and a double by Jaikep Entrikin.

In the first inning, The Blue Devils got their offense started with Josh Entrikin‘s sac fly scored one run for Lisbon.  Beaver evened things up at one in the bottom of the third inning. Jackson grounded out, scoring one run.  Lisbon would pull away for good with one run in the fourth inning. In the fourth Garrett Cox‘s sac fly scored one run for the Blue Devils. Then it was the big seventh that sealed the Beavers fate as Lisbon put up six runs in the seventh inning.

Sweeney earned the win for Lisbon. He lasted three and a third innings, allowing four hits and one run while striking out one and walking one. Entrikin threw two-thirds of an inning in relief out of the bullpen.

Saltsman took the loss for Beaver. He allowed six hits and three runs over five innings, striking out four.

Tyler Graham started the game for Lisbon. He surrendered one run on three hits over three innings, walking one

Mundy led Lisbon with two hits in three at-bats.  While Saltsman went 2-for-3 at the plate to lead Beaver in hits. Beaver didn’t commit a single error in the field. Wolski had the most chances in the field with six.

KNIGHTS STORM BY EAST LIVERPOOL

TORONTO, OH- The Toronto Red Knights defeated East Liverpool 12-0 in 5 innings on Wednesday as two pitchers combined to throw a shutout.  Luke Gulczynski pitched a one-hitter before Zac Berger came in for the fifth frame.

Nate Karaffa led Toronto to victory by driving in four runs. He went 2-for-2 at the plate. Karaffa drove in runs on a sacrifice fly in the first, a single in the second, and a home run in the third.

Toronto had the lead from the jump when they fired up the offense in the first inning when Karaffa‘s sac fly scored one run for Toronto Red Knights Varsity.  Toronto scored six runs in the second inning. BergerTristan ThomasNick ChetockKaraffa, and Nick Sninchak all drove in runs in the frame.

One bright spot for East Liverpool was a single by Cory Weyand in the first inning, it was the only offense the Potters had to speak of on the afternoon.

Lucas Gulczynski earned the win for the Red Knights. He lasted four innings, allowing one hit and zero runs while striking out three. Berger threw one inning in relief out of the bullpen.  Paxton Grimes took the loss for East Liverpool. He lasted two and a third innings, allowing nine hits and nine runs while striking out one and walking zero.

Toronto had 14 hits in the game. ChetockGulczynskiSninchak, and Karaffa all managed multiple hits for the Red KnightsChetock led Toronto with three hits in three at-bats. They also tore up the base paths, as two players stole at least two bases. Karaffa led the way with two.

Weyand went 1-for-2 at the plate to lead East Liverpool in hits.

POTTERS CAN’T HOLD UP AGAINST MADONNA

EAST LIVERPOOL, OH- East Liverpool couldn’t keep up with Madonna and fell 13-1 on Tuesday.  The Potters got on the board in the first inning when Devin Toothman singled on a 2-2 count, scoring one run.

Madonna responded and pulled away for good with five runs in the fourth inning. In the fourth Brncic singled on a 3-1 count, scoring one run and Amismeyer singled on the first pitch of the at-bat, scoring two runs.  Madonna scored five runs in the seventh inning. The offensive onslaught by Madonna was led by AustinAmismeyer, and Dietrich, who all drove in runs.

Mazur earned the win for Madonna. He lasted six innings, allowing three hits and one run while striking out five and walking zero.

Logan Bennett took the loss for East Liverpool. He went three innings, allowing five runs on seven hits and striking out one.

Paxton GrimesKamren Klakos, and Toothman each collected one hit to lead the Potters.

Madonna tallied 16 hits on the day. BeattyMcDanielsAustinBrncicRidgwayAmismeyer, and Dietrich all managed multiple-hit games for Madonna.

BEAVERS WIN WILD ONE OVER STRUTHERS

STRUTHERS, OH- The Beaver Local Baseball Team is going streaking!  The first win-streak of the year for the red and white comes after a wild game against Struthers on Saturday.  Beaver Local defeated Struthers 15-14 on after taking the lead late in the game. The game was tied at 14 with Beaver Local batting in the top of the eighth when Ethan Stephenson drew a walk, scoring one run.

There was plenty of action on the basepaths as the Beavers collected 11 hits and Struthers had 12.

Struthers got things moving in the second inning when JD Hall tripled to drive in a run.  One of 3 on the day for Hall.

Beaver Local scored six runs in the seventh inning to take the lead. The offensive onslaught by Beaver Local was led by Dorian JacksonAvery WiegandStephensonDalton Curran, and Hunter Saltsman, all driving in runs in the frame.

Ryan Cunningham got the win for Beaver Local. He surrendered seven runs on eight hits over five innings, striking out three and walking one.

Anthony Monaco took the loss for Struthers. He allowed four hits and seven runs over two innings, striking out three.

Jordan Mick started the game for the Beavers. He lasted three innings, allowing four hits and seven runs while striking out one. Likewise, Jared Laczko started the game for Struthers. He surrendered three runs on four hits over five innings, striking out three

Beaver Local tallied 11 hits. SaltsmanWiegand, and Jackson each racked up multiple hits for the Beavers. Saltsman led Beaver Local  with three hits in five at-bats.

Struthers racked up 12 hits in the game. HallBilly Opritza, and Monaco all had multiple hits for Struthers. Hall went 3-for-5 at the plate to lead Struthers in hits.

BELLAIRE TAKES TWO FROM BEAVER LOCAL

EAST LIVERPOOL, OH- The Bellaire Big Reds defeated the Beaver Local Beavers softball team in both games of a doubleheader on Saturday morning at Beaver Local Community Fields.

Bellaire won Game 1 by the score of 6-2. Natalie Stoner led the way for Bellaire in Game 1. She pitched a complete game victory allowing 2 runs,  6 hits with 1 walk and 7 strikeouts.  At the plate, Stoner helped her own cause with an RBI double in the 1st inning & hit a solo home run over the fence in left-center field in the 5th inning. Kaitlyn Kosky went 2-3 with 2 singles while producing 3 RBIs while Kaylan Brown was credited with an RBI on a sacrifice fly in the 1st inning. For the Beavers in Game 1, Cierra Thurik had 2 hits while Olivia Keller, AJ Jordan, Morgan Boucher and Hailey Russell each had 1 hit while Keller and Elizabeth Kolkowski each scored a run for the Beavers.
Bellaire won Game 2 by the score 9-6. Natalie Stoner also had a major role in Game 2 as well. She had an RBI single in the 1st inning and the 5th innings led off the inning with a single then stole 2nd and 3rd base before scoring a run. Stoner started the game at shortstop then was moved to pitcher to pitch in relief to stop a 5 run Beaver Local rally in the 5th inning. Stoner was credited with the save in Game 2 not allowing any runs on 1 hit, no walks and 3 strikeouts in 2 2/3 innings of scoreless relief. Kaitlyn Kosky had a 2 run RBI double in the 2nd inning while starting pitcher Andrea Brown helped her own cause with a 2 run RBI double in the 5th inning.
For the Beaver Cierra Thurik went 3 for 4 with 3 doubles and 2 RBIs. Tori Bowersock and Morgan Boucher each had an RBI single for the Beavers. Halle Jordan scored 2 runs for the Beavers, while Elizabeth Kolkowski, Tori Bowersock, Olivia Keller, and Morgan Boucher each scored a run for the Beavers.
Bellaire improves its record to 9-9 on the season with the 2 victories while Beaver Local’s record is now 5-7 with the 2 defeats on Saturday.
The Beaver Local soft team is back in action Tuesday at Oak Glen at 5 PM before returning home to play Carrollton Wednesday at 5 PM.

WIEGAND SHINES AS BEAVERS WALK-OFF POTTERS IN EXTRAS

EAST LIVERPOOL-  After an 0-8 start, the Beaver Local baseball team finally broke through the win column with a walk-off 2-1 victory in 9 innings over the arch-rival East Liverpool Wednesday evening at Beaver Local Community Fields.

With runners on 1st and 3rd with 2 out in the bottom of the 9th inning, Beavers shortstop Dorian Jackson at the plate, he hit a sharply hit ground ball to Potters third baseman Derek Klein. His throw was wide to the right field side of first base, allowing Hunter Saltsman to score the winning run from third base for Beaver Local.
The Beavers took a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the third as starting pitcher Avery Wiegand reached on a throwing error allowing Carter Wolski to score.  The Potters tied the game in the top of the 4th off of a wild pitch from Wiegand, allowing Kamren Klakos to score from third.
Beaver Local starting pitcher Avery Wiegand pitched 8 innings, allowing 1 run on 2 hits with 4 walks & 14 strikeouts. Jordan Mick came on in relief to pitch a scoreless 9th inning with 2 strikeouts.
Freshman second baseman Ryan Cunningham led the Beaver Local offense with 2 singles.
The Beavers return to action Friday at 5PM at home against Lisbon, weather permitting.

POTTERS GAIN FIRST VICTORY AGAINST RIVAL BEAVERS

EAST LIVERPOOL- There is no sweeter victory than the first.  Except if your first victory is your cross-town rival.  That was the case for the East Liverpool Potters Monday.  Beaver Local fell behind early and couldn’t come back in a 9-3 loss to East Liverpool. East Liverpool scored on a double by Logan Bennett in the first inning, a walk by Trevor Wern in the first inning, a single by Dylan Czech in the first inning, a single by Blaize Davis in the first inning, and a single by Devin Toothman in the second inning.

In the first inning, East Liverpool got their offense started when Bennett doubled on a 1-2 count, scoring one run.  Bennett led the way on the hill. He allowed six hits and three runs over seven innings, striking out eight, securing the victory for the Potters.

Ethan Agnew took the loss for Beaver Local. He surrendered four runs on one hit over one-third of an inning.  Beaver Local tried to rally offensively early on when Ryan Cunningham homered in the second inning.  Also contributing to the Beaver offense was Avery Wiegand, who went 2-for-4 at the plate to lead Beaver Local in hits.

East Liverpool collected nine hits. Davis and Paxton Grimes all collected multiple hits for East Liverpool.

BUCKEYE LOCAL SWEEPS SERIES AGAINST BEAVERS

RAYLAND, OH- Beaver Local fell behind early and couldn’t come back in a 10-0 loss to Buckeye Local on Friday. Buckeye Local scored on a single by Watt, a single by Hertier, and a single by Christian in the first inning.  The Beaver Local Varsity struggled to contain the high-powered offense of Buckeye Local, giving up ten runs.

In the first inning, Buckeye Local got their offense started. Watt drove in one when he singled.

Kelley led the Buckeye Local to victory on the mound. He surrendered zero runs on two hits over five innings, striking out three and walking zero.  Jordan Mick took the loss for Beaver Local Varsity. He lasted four innings, allowing six hits and ten runs while striking out two.

Ryan Cunningham and Agnew were the lone contributors to the hit column on Friday Night for the Beavers.

Buckeye Local had seven hits in the game. Burkett and Watt each managed multiple hits for Buckeye Local. Buckeye Local was sure-handed and didn’t commit a single error. Watt made the most plays with six.

BUCKEYE LOCAL OFFENSE HEATS UP AGAINST BEAVER LOCAL

EAST LIVERPOOL, OH- It was a tough night at the office for Beaver Local on Wednesday.  The Beavers fell behind early and couldn’t come back in a 14-1 loss to Buckeye Local.

In the first inning, Buckeye Local got their offense started when Hertier singled on a 0-2 count, scoring one run. Then, Buckeye Local scored five runs in the third inning. The big inning for Buckeye Local came thanks to a walk by Novak, a single by Burkett, and a double by Long.  Barber was credited with the victory for Buckeye Local. He surrendered one run on two hits over five innings, striking out six. Christian threw one inning in relief out of the bullpen.

Jaden Kiddey took the loss for Beaver Local. He lasted two and a third innings, allowing four hits and six runs.  Offensively, Dorian JacksonDalton Curran, and Avery Wiegand each managed one hit to lead Beaver Local.

Buckeye Local racked up 11 hits. HertierBurkettLong, and Scott each collected multiple hits for Buckeye Local. Hertier went 3-for-4 at the plate to lead Buckeye Local in hits. Long led Buckeye Local with two stolen bases, as they ran wild on the base paths with nine stolen bases.

POTTERS COME UP EMPTY AGAINST OAK GLEN

EAST LIVERPOOL, OH- East Liverpool fell behind early and couldn’t come back in a 10-0 loss to Oak Glen on Tuesday. Oak Glen took the lead on a single in the first inning, and capitalized throughout the game.

The Potters struggled to contain the high-powered offense of Oak Glen, giving up ten runs on eight hits.  A single by Paxton Grimes in the first inning was a positive for East Liverpool.  Lemley took the win for Oak Glen. He allowed three hits and zero runs over five innings, striking out three and walking one.  Devin Toothman took the loss for East Liverpool. He went one and two-thirds innings, allowing five runs on three hits.

Offensively, Blaize DavisGrimes, and Trevor Wern each had one hit to lead East Liverpool.  Creese went 2-for-2 at the plate to lead Oak Glen in hits. Oak Glen was stout on defense and didn’t commit a single error.
