YOUNGSTOWN OH- In a thrilling volleyball matchup, the Cardinal Mooney team emerged victorious with a commanding 3-0 sweep over Warren Harding. The final scores of 25-22, 25-19, and 25-19 reflect the team’s impressive performance and ability to maintain control throughout the game.

Leading the charge for Cardinal Mooney was Jaida Lane, who showcased her attacking prowess with an astounding 15 kills. Her powerful kills kept the opposition on their toes and were a critical factor in securing the win. Amarra Anderson also made her presence felt with 8 kills and 4 crucial blocks, adding to the team’s offensive and defensive strength.

CARDINALS REFUSE TO LOSE

CANFIELD OH- In a thrilling soccer showdown, the Canfield girls’ soccer team continued their impressive undefeated streak with a 2-0 win over Howland, improving their record to 7-0-1 for the season.

The Canfield offense was in fine form, with goals coming from the dynamic duo of Hanna Wahib and Maci Toporcer. These two stars have consistently demonstrated their scoring prowess throughout the season, and this game was no exception. Adding to the teamwork, Halle Toporcer provided a crucial assist that contributed to Canfield’s success.

While the offense shone, Canfield’s defense remained rock solid. Outshooting their opponents by a margin of 12 to 5, the Canfield girls showcased their ability to control the pace of the game and maintain their lead.

CANFIELD SWEEPS THE AAC CHAMPIONSHIPS

BOARDMAN OH- Canfield showed why they are the class of the AAC in golf as the Cardinals claimed both Boys and Girls team titles on Tuesday on the South Course at Mill Creek Golf Course. Canfield’s Mick Ambrose claimed individual medalist honors carding a day’s best 72 for the boys. Ambrose’s impressive performance along with Bryce Roberts 76, Nathan Miller 79, and Simon Kovass 81, helped guide the Cards to claiming the team title as well with a score of 308. Boardman (336) was led to their second place finish by Zach Ganser 79, Luke DeJoseph 85, Coop Mraz and Chase Zelesnak would each shoot 86. Howland’s (352) third place finish was paced by Deacon Mock 83, Anthony Palumbo 87, also Vincent Weeks and Alex Gumino contributed a score of 91 respectively. Fitch (355) took fourth behind John Darnley 86, Carson Fuller 88, Evan James 90 and Joey Wollet 91.

The Girls division saw Boardman’s Sophia Rivera earn medalist honors posting a tournament best 77.  Canfield took home the team title with a collective score of 356. The Cardinals were led by Taylor Marrone 86, Alex Conley 88, Aubree Philibin 89, Natalie Sawicki and Miya Cohol each recorded a 93. Boardman (403) was led to a second place finish by Rivera’s 77,  Gianna Ross 90, Hailey Rusnak 105, Shaelan WIlliams 131, and Tessa Ross 134. Howland (413) took home third behind Jane Bronson 95, Sloan Wolanzyk 104, Hannah Zsu 106, while Mia Walters finished with a 108 and Miya Foster would shoot 133.

The game was highlighted by the stellar performance of Hanna Wahib, who found the back of the net an incredible four times. Lexi Toporcer, Vivian Nohra, and Lorieona Jannone also contributed to Canfield’s offensive prowess by adding goals of their own.

The team’s cohesion was evident in their assists, with Lexi Toporcer recording two assists, and Hannah Wahib and Maci Toporcer adding to the creative playmaking. On the opposing side, Harding managed to notch one goal thanks to Josellen O’Brien. Canfield’s goalkeeper, Lolo Padgett, had a relatively quiet day but made a crucial save to keep her team’s lead secure. HUGHES DIGS UP 1000 AS DEVILS STAY PERFECT

BERLIN CENTER OH- In a dominant display of skill and teamwork, Western Reserve continued their undefeated streak by defeating Mooney in a convincing 3-0 victory. The scores of 25-9, 25-12, and 25-14 highlighted Western Reserve’s dominance on the volleyball court. Alyvia Hughes and Lisa Eichert shone brightly, both achieving double-doubles for the match. Alyvia recorded an impressive 14 kills and 14 digs, showcasing her all-around abilities, while Lisa contributed with 11 kills and 13 digs.

Haylee Fellows played a pivotal role with 22 assists, effectively setting up her teammates for success throughout the match. Abby Blair showcased her prowess at the net with 5 blocks and 5 kills, adding to the team’s formidable presence. Notably, Alyvia Hughes reached a significant milestone in her career, recording her 1000th career dig during the game. CARDINALS BATTLE AGAINST PENNSYLVANIA POWERHOUSE

PITTSBURGH PA- In an electrifying matchup, Canfield continued their impressive season by securing a hard-fought 4-4 tie against the reigning WPIAL state champions for the past two years, Avonworth. The game was a showcase of skill and determination on both sides, with thrilling performances from the players.

Canfield’s goals were led by Maci Toporcer, who notched a remarkable hat-trick with three goals, while Lorieona Jannone added to the tally. Lexi Toporcer and Maci Toporcer provided the crucial assists that set up these goals, highlighting their teamwork and vision on the field.

On the opposing side, Avonworth displayed their championship-caliber play with goals by Fiona Mahan, a University of Alabama commit, and Gianna Babusci, both of whom scored twice. Fiona Mahan also showcased her versatility with an assist, further contributing to Avonworth’s offensive firepower.

POLAND FINALLY GETS THE BEST OF THE CARDINALS

POLAND OH- In a thrilling Battle of 224, the rivalry lived up to its reputation as Poland ended a six-game losing streak to Canfield with a hard-fought 10-7 victory. The first half showcased a defensive battle, with neither offense managing to score. It was Poland’s Jas Stefancin who broke the deadlock with a field goal, granting Poland a slim 3-0 lead at halftime.

Canfield had their moments in the first half, moving the ball effectively, but Poland’s red-zone defense stood firm. A promising drive led by quarterback Paul Bindas and running back Danny Inglis reached the Bulldogs’ 23-yard line in the first quarter, but a Canfield fumble thwarted their efforts. Later in the half, running back Scottie Eaton’s big plays brought Canfield closer to field goal range, but miscues prevented them from making the kick.

Canfield came out strong in the second half, with Inglis breaking free for an impressive 87-yard run to Poland’s 10-yard line. Bindas capitalized on the opportunity, scoring a 5-yard touchdown run to put Canfield ahead 7-3. However, Poland responded with a 41-yard touchdown from Cole Fulton, taking a 10-7 lead.

In the final quarter, Poland executed a keep-away strategy to maintain their lead. Despite Canfield’s efforts, they couldn’t break through Poland’s defense again. The game concluded with a hard-fought 10-7 victory for Poland, marking a significant milestone as they snapped their losing streak against Canfield in a memorable Battle of 224 showdown.

CANFIELD OH- In a non-conference clash that left fans in awe, the Canfield boys’ soccer team delivered a resounding 9-0 victory over Crestview, showcasing their dominance on the pitch.

From the opening whistle, Canfield established their authority, relentlessly attacking Crestview’s defense. The goals came in abundance, with Canfield’s offensive prowess on full display.

Leading the scoring spree was Ethan Mulichak, who netted an impressive hat-trick, finding the back of the net three times. Adam Ghossain was equally relentless, contributing two goals to the tally.

Drew Snyder, Ryan Dangol, Andrew Battaglia, and Renato Cupillari also got in on the scoring action, each adding their names to the scoresheet.
