LAKEVIEW BASEBALL COACH’S CORNER (EP 1) WITH CAMERON CARSON

CORTLAND OH- The weather is getting warmer, the birds are singing, and the flowers are blooming. That can only mean one thing. Spring is upon us. As the calendar flips it’s time to get ready for baseball season. Lakeview comes into the year with plenty of experience that is looking to shake things up in a tough NE8. The Bulldogs are not to be taken lightly this season, and a lot of people are about to learn why.

Lakeview head coach Cameron Carson took the time to hop on Running Point this week to talk about the upcoming season. He talks with Anthony Hartwig, and Ty Bartell about the returning experience, how challenging their schedule will be, and much more. Check out Episode 1 of coach’s corner with Cameron Carson.

URSULINE BASEBALL COACH’S CORNER (EP 1) WITH PAUL KEMPE

YOUNGSTOWN OH- Pitching, pitching and more pitching. That is the strength that The Ursuline Fighting Irish’s baseball club brings to the table this season.  With notable names such as UCF commit Brady Shannon. Also, Bethany College commit and strikeouts leader from a year ago, Anthony “Tre” Ciavarella to lead the pitching staff.

Paul Kempe brings in a ton of Irish alumni to his staff, all in an effort to rekindle the tradition of success with Irish Baseball.  Like every season, Ursuline’s schedule is a gauntlet, one that should prepare them to make a tournament run.

Ty and Anthony talk with Coach Kempe about expectations of the season and the culture he is looking to set at Ursuline in this 2022 Irish Baseball preview!

CANFIELD BASEBALL COACH’S CORNER (EP 1) WITH GARY KNITTLE

The Canfield Cardinals were a ballclub that took the area by storm last season. With an undefeated regular season under their belt, Canfield brings back a plethora of talent.   With Josh Juliano returning, he led the team in batting average at .524 last season. The Cardinals also return their pitching leader, LHP and OSU commit, Landon Beidelschies.  Beidelschies, 0.41 ERA in 10 games, led a Canfield pitching staff that had a combined 1.06 ERA.  Pair A.J. Havrilla and Ryan Petro with this squad, and The Cardinals look to continue their domination.

Playing in a tough AAC and adding in a grueling non-conference schedule, Canfield will sharpen their teeth before the tournament. 

Ty and Anthony from Running Point sat down with Head Coach Gary Knittle to talk about the upcoming season, and what to expect this season.

EDISON BASEBALL COACH’S CORNER (EP 1) WITH MIKE COLLOPY

RICHMOND OH- When it comes to Edison Baseball, in recent memory, success is the first word that comes to mind.  Averaging 19+ wins a season for over 14 years, Coach Michael Collopy has created a culture of winning for The Wildcats. Including six different Edison ballplayers going on to play at college.

As Edison tries to navigate their way through a tough Buckeye 8 schedule, they will have seven different 2-year starters returning to the team this year. 

Anthony and Ty got a chance to talk with two sport Coach Collopy in a preview of The Wildcats season.

MINERAL RIDGE BASEBALL COACH’S CORNER (EP 1) WITH ANTHONY RAGOZINE

MINERAL RIDGE OH- Baseball is big in The Mahoning Valley, and for teams such as The Mineral Ridge Rams, they know that all too well. Playing in a super competitive Mahoning Valley Athletic Conference (MVAC), The Rams will be featured on The Scarlet side of The MVAC.

Providing plenty of competitive matchups this season for Ridge. With Springfield, Jackson-Milton, and Western Reserve taking up six conference games this season, Mathews, Columbiana and Heartland Christian highlight their non-conference schedule. 

For Head Coach Anthony Ragozine, it seems like both interest and participation for Rams Baseball is at an all-time high!  With the kids and community bought it, Coach Ragozine looks to start a culture of success in The 2022 Season! 

Ty Bartell got a chance to talk with Coach Ragozine about the upcoming season, including the excitement and expectations for Rams Baseball!

LOUISVILLE BOYS BASKETBALL COACH’S CORNER (EP 4) WITH TOM SIEGFRIED

LOUISVILLE OH- For the first time in program history, the Louisville Leopard boys basketball team is just one win away from a trip to state. They haven’t been strangers to close games during their tournament run. They found themselves in another one in Canton for the regional semifinals. The Leopards beat Cleveland Glenville in overtime 90-86. Now with one more challenge in front of them before they head to Dayton, the Leopards will eye St Vincent St Mary on Saturday.

Tom Siegfried was kind enough to come on YSN’s Running Point yet again this week. He talks with Anthony Hartwig and Ty Bartell about the big win over Glenville, the challenge that the Irish present, and much more. CARDINAL MOONEY BOYS BASKETBALL COACH’S CORNER (EP 5) WITH CAREY PALERMO

YOUNGSTOWN OH- How does a regional final sound to the city of Youngstown? We think it sounds pretty good. For the first time since 1999 Cardinal Mooney boys basketball has won a game in the regional round. They did it with lock down defense yet again. The Cardinals beat Campbell 47-41. Now they have a chance at a rematch with the team that ended their season last year. Mooney will play Lutheran East on Saturday with a trip to Dayton on the line.

JACKSON MILTON SOFTBALL COACH’S CORNER (EP 1) WITH MARIAH CICCOLELLI

NORTH JACKSON OH- Here comes spring! And boy, is it coming fast. With just two weeks away until the start of the season it’s time to start diving in to previews of these spring sport teams.  When it comes to softball in Jackson Milton, they are returning a ton of experience. The highlight of their team will be in the circle. Two young arms coming back for their second year of varsity. Add that with a lineup that presents a lot of power, the Blue Jays will be tough to deal with this year.

Mariah Ciccolelli took the time to come on Running Point this week to help us preview Jackson Milton’s season. AUSTINTOWN FITCH SOFTBALL COACH’S CORNER (EP 1) WITH STEVE WARD

AUSTINTOWN OH- The weather is starting to warm up as the calendar begins to turn from winter to spring. With the spring season comes trips to the softball fields for a lot of high school players. For Fitch, they are coming off an amazing season is 2021. Did they lose some important seniors? Yes. Are they bringing back a bunch of talent as well? Also yes. Headlining their senior class is Seton Hill commit Maddy Taylor who brings a bunch of pop to her bat. Also coming in to her senior season Kayla Schubert who did a lot for the team in last year’s run. Those bring three other seniors with them to lead this squad.

LOUISVILLE WRESTLING COACH’S CORNER (EP 1) WITH ROCKY LAUGHLIN

LOUISVILLE OH- The wrestling program at Louisville is one of the most decorated in the YSN family. If you’re talking wrestling in Northeast Ohio, you’re talking about Louisville. The man in front of it all is Rocky Laughlin. The head coach of the Leopards has led his group and sent 9 wrestlers qualifying for state. Headlining their qualifiers is projected State champion Pablo Castro. He’s focus and locked in to try and bring it home. Also qualifying for state Lacy Harvey in the 106, Kolten Barker in the 113, Dylan Rhodes in the 126, Dominic Hoffarth in the 138, Brendan Severs in the 157, Noah Peterson in the 175, Blake Schaffer in the 190, and Cameron Brazek in the 285.

Coach Laughlin took the time to come on Running Point this week to talk about his program. He talks with Gary Althiser, Anthony Hartwig, and Ty Bartell about his wrestlers going to state, the people that work with him to make this program great, and much more.
