SOUTH RANGE VOLLEYBALL COACH’S CORNER (EP 1) WITH KATHY KOMARA

CANFIELD OH- South Range found themselves in a unfortunate situation heading into the 2021 volleyball season. Head coach TJ Irons had to unexpectedly step away due to serious health concerns. South Range turned to the coach that led the program before TJ took over last season, Kathy Komara. Komara accepted the position and took over the program for the season. The Raiders are coming off a season where they went to the district championship, but lost to Cardinal. They lost only one senior, but it was a pretty important one in Izzy Lamparty. Things look bright for the Raiders with a ton of returning experience.

Coach Komara took the time to join YSN’s Runing Point this week to talk about everything that the Raider volleyball team is going through. BEAVER LOCAL VOLLEYBALL COACH’S CORNER (EP 1) WITH SARAH LOWE

BEAVER OH- Beaver Local volleyball is one of the more prominent programs in the area. They are coming off a season where they went 22-2. They are returning a ton of talent, and things are looking like they’ll be just as impressive in 2021. Sarah Lowe is one of the more respected high school volleyball coaches in the state, and she returns at the helm for another season.

CRESTVIEW FOOTBALL COACH’S CORNER (EP. 1) WITH PAUL CUSICK

COLUMBIANA, OH – Head coach Paul Cusick and the Crestview Rebels are eager to get back on the football field in week two following a hard-fought battle against the Salem Quakers last week. The Rebels battled hard but came up a little short 38-13. Up next for Crestview will be a road contest with former ITCL foe, the Southern Indians, on Friday night.

YSN’s own, DJ Yokley, had the opportunity to sit down with Coach Cusick this week to discuss the week one match up with Salem, what he and his staff took away from that game, what the Rebels need to do on both sides of the football to come away with a victory in week two against Southern, and so much more!

EAST PALESTINE, OH – Coming off a season opening road match up with Malvern, head coach Tony Foster and the East Palestine Bulldogs are eager to get back on their own home turf and battle it out in front of their own fans. The Bulldogs were scheduled to play Windham in week two but due to COVID factors, that game was canceled and instead, the Mineral Ridge Rams will travel down to East Palestine to take on the Bulldogs on Friday night.

CANFIELD, OH – Coming off a much-anticipated rivalry game with the Springfield Tigers, head coach Dan Yeagley and the South Range Raiders are amped up and eager to continue winning! The Raiders traveled down the road to New Middletown last week and walked away with an impressive 41-24 victory. Up next for South Range will be the home opener as the Raiders will welcome University School to town on Friday night.

YSN’s own, D.J. Yokley, had the pleasure of chatting with Coach Yeagley this week to discuss the big week one victory, what he and his staff have been doing to prepare the Raiders for University School while still enjoying a big win, as well as, what some keys to victory are for week two.

YOUNGSTOWN, OH – Head coach Chris Amill and the Chaney Cowboys are coming off a tough game against Austintown Fitch in week one but remain excited and eager to get back to playing Chaney style football as the season progresses. The Cowboys will look to rebound and get after Boardman in week two. The Cowboys will welcome the Spartans to Rayen Stadium on Friday night.

CANFIELD BOYS GOLF COACH’S CORNER (EP. 1) WITH MIKE KERENSKY

CANFIELD, OH – The Canfield boys golf coach, Mike Kerensky, joined us on the first ever Canfield golf coach’s corner. Coach Kerensky touched on his teams previous tournaments, goals for the season, the new golf simulator in the Canfield Middle School, and a special event coming up in September. Coach Kerensky is very proud of his teams performances this season, and is hoping for a deep run into the state tournament.

CANFIELD FOOTBALL COACH’S CORNER (EP. 3) WITH MIKE PAVLANSKY

CANFIELD, OH – Coming off a thrilling week one victory over rival Poland in the “Battle of 224,” head coach Mike Pavlansky and the Canfield Cardinals are flying high into week two. The Cards will look to continue their winning ways while playing solid football on both sides of the ball as they will welcome the Dover Tornadoes to town on Friday night.

NEWTON FALLS OH- The Newton Falls Volleyball team is off to a fantastic start in the 2021 season. They are 2-0 and have won 6 out of 7 sets they have played. Up next for the Tigers is a matchup with their conference rival LaBrae. It’s always a competitive match between the Tigers and Vikings, and it doesn’t appear to be changing.

BROOKFIELD FOOTBALL COACH’S CORNER (EP 1) WITH RANDY CLARK

BROOKFIELD OH- The Brookfield Warriors are 1-0 after a massive week 1 victory over McDonald. Not too many of the “experts” gave Brookfield much of a chance this year, but the Warriors made an emphatic statement in McDonald. They won over the Blue Devils 35-6. Now, a week 2 monster matchup looms as Brookfield opens their home opener hosting Springfield.

Head coach Randy Clark joined YSN’s Running Point this week to talk about their week 1 win over McDonald, and the challenge that awaits against Springfield. He also talks with Anthony Hartwig, and Ty Bartell about the culture of Brookfield football, their development program, and much more.
