BEAVER LOCAL FOOTBALL COACH’S CORNER (EP. 1) WITH MIKE MCKENZIE

EAST LIVERPOOL, OH – We are officially under 24 hours away from kicking off the 2021 high school football season as head coach, Mike McKenzie, and the Beaver Local Beavers will look to build upon last season’s success and create a buzz for the Beavers fans. Up first for the Beavers will be a home game as they will welcome Indian Valley to town on Friday night.

YSN’s own, Michael McKenzie, was able to sit down with Coach McKenzie this week to outline the upcoming season, talk about how last season effected him and his program, what he and his staff have in store for this season, and so much more!

CANFIELD CARDINALS FOOTBALL COACH’S CORNER (EP. 2) WITH MIKE PAVLANSKY

CANFIELD, OH – We are officially under 24 hours away from kicking off the 2021 high school football season as head coach, Mike Pavlansky, and the Canfield Cardinals will look to build upon last season’s success and continue the Cardinals rich tradition of quality football. Coach Pav will lean on junior quarterback, Broc Lowry, to lead the offense and take control of each game early and often. Up first for Canfield will be a showdown in the “Battle of 224″ against the Poland Bulldogs on Thursday night. Not only will the Cards invade Poland, it will also be a special moment for Coach Pav as he will get to take on his brother Tom Pavlansky, who just got hired as the Bulldogs head coach. To make the game even more special to both brothers, the game will be played on the field named after their father, Dave Pavlansky.

YSN’s own, Steve Leslie and Richie Juliano, were able to sit down with Coach Mike Pavlansky, in a special live edition Coach’s Corner” from Cocca’s Pizza in Canfield to preview the “Battle of 224,” what it means to Coach to go against his brother in the opener, how his family has effected his coaching career, some keys to victory for the Cardinals, and much much more!

BOARDMAN SPARTANS FOOTBALL COACH’S CORNER (EP. 1) WITH SETH ANTRAM

BOARDMAN, OH – Boardman Spartans football is back as first year head coach, Seth Antram, looks to put his mark on a storied program in hopes of building upon last season’s success. Boardman will lean on a star studded roster this season as the Spartans will look to take the AAC by storm and compete for a conference title as well as make some noise come playoff time. The “Antram Era” will kick off this Friday, August 20th, at home as Boardman will welcome the Cardinal Mooney Cardinals into Spartan Stadium for a 7pm kickoff.

YSN’s own, Steve Leslie, had the opportunity to sit down with Coach Antram this week to discuss his thoughts about being the head coach of the Spartans, what his season outlook is, what the staff and roster is shaping up to be as well as what he expects from them throughout the season, some of the challenges he might have faced or will face throughout the season, what his outlook and keys to victory are for the Spartans on Friday night, and much much more!

CARDINAL MOONEY BOYS SOCCER COACH’S CORNER (EP 1) WITH MATT BRITTON

YOUNGSTOWN OH- In 2020 the Mooney boys soccer team made a run all the way to the state championship game. They fell just short but still ended up with the state runner up title. There’s only one way to one up their 2020 performance, and that is to win the whole thing. They have some pieces to replace, that is certain. They lost their whole midfield from 2020. They still do return 6 starters, and will have plenty of leadership. Head coach Matt Britton is entering his third season at the helm, and has dramatically turned the program around. Mooney opens the season on August 23rd at Berea Midpark.

Coach Britton took the time out of his day to join Running Point this week. He talks with Anthony Hartwig, and Ty Bartell about turning the program around, the experience of getting to the state championship, and so much more. It’s almost soccer time in Youngstown, so get ready with Episode 1 of Coach’s Corner with Matt Britton.

SALEM VOLLEYBALL COACH’S CORNER (EP 1) WITH KACEY COSTAL

SALEM OH- 2020 was a heck of a season to experience a first season as a head coach. Salem Volleyball head coach Kacey Costal drove through it and still managed to find success through such an adverse time. Now the multiple lessons that were learned during that season are leaving coach Costal locked and loaded for 2021. They have plenty of experience on the court coming back too. Most importantly, Salem is getting back both of their setters, who will look to lead a new look offense in 2021. The Quakers open the season August 23rd at Howland.

Coach Costal took the time to hop on to YSN’s Running Point this week to give us a preview of the 2021 Quakers season. She talks about coaching for the program she played in, bringing her own college experiences into her practices, and much more. SPRINGFIELD VOLLEYBALL COACH’S CORNER (EP 1) WITH ANGELA JONES

NEW MIDDLETOWN OH- The Springfield volleyball program has a proud storied tradition of success, and head coach Angela Jones knows it all to well being a Tiger graduate. Getting the Tigers back to their former glory is a priority. Last season’s final record may have been acceptable for some programs, but it did not meet the Springfield standard. The Tigers may not have any seniors this year, but coach Jones that her large junior class is experienced enough to handle the leadership roles that will be asked of them. She will lean on Madi Lesnak, and Jacey Mullen who have both been named captains of the team.

Coach Jones was able to spend some time on YSN’s Running Point this week to give us a preview of the 2021 season. She talks with Anthony Hartwig about being a Tiger alum herself, what to expect from the Tigers this season, and much more. POLAND BOYS SOCCER COACH’S CORNER (EP 1) WITH BRIAN GARCAR

POLAsaND OH- Last season Poland was unstoppable in the regular seay son finishing the year without a single blemish on their record. Eleven seniors led that team through a year of adversity and uncertainty. Even though they graduated those eleven seniors, Poland returns plenty of talent and leadership. They have plenty of reasons to be optimistic in the 2021 season. Brian Garcar takes another year as the head coach leading the Bulldogs head first into another promising season.

Coach Garcar was kind enough to take the time to hop on to YSN’s Running Point to talk about the upcoming season. He chatted with Anthony Hartwig about getting the players back to a normal summer, conditioning accountability, and much more. We expect great things for the Poland program and so should you! SPRINGFIELD GIRLS SOCCER COACH’S CORNER (EP 1) WITH JUSTIN KOSEK

NEW MIDDLETOWN OH- Springfield is one of the most successful girls soccer programs the area has seen in the last two seasons. The Tigers have only lost three games in two years. The Tigers are coming off a 15-1 season, but a disappointing ending, losing to United 2-0 in the District semifinals. Springfield returns seven starters from a season ago, two of which were named 1st team all district in 2020. They do lose the YDSSCA Division III Player of the Year in Kylee Kosek. The core is still there and that gives head coach Justin Kosek reasons to be optimistic. Coach Kosek is 18 wins away from 100 in his career, and a deep tournament run might just get him there.

Coach Kosek was kind enough to stop by YSN’s Running Point this week to preview the 2021 season. He talks with Anthony Hartwig, and Ty Bartell about his own journey to be a head coach, building team chemistry, and much more. SEBRING FOOTBALL COACH’S CORNER (EP 1) WITH MATT SEIDEL

SEBRING OH- Matt Seidel is heading into his third year on the sidelines as head coach of the Sebring Trojans. He is clearly changing the culture of the program. Slowly but surely the Trojans continue to take positive steps in the right direction. Everything is looking bright as the Trojans look for their first winning season since 1992. They went 2-8 in 2020 but their offense continues to improve putting points on the board. Coach Seidel has a lot to be optimistic about in 2021. The goal has always been to earn a playoff spot, and that goal is in the crosshairs this season. Sebring opens the season August 20th against Leetonia in Salem.

Coach Seidel graciously hopped on YSN’s Running Point to preview the upcoming season in Sebring. He talked with Anthony Hartwig, and Ty Bartell about what the team motto is, who to watch for this season, and much more. MCDONALD VOLLEYBALL COACH’S CORNER (EP 1) WITH MIKE KLOCKNER

MCDONALD OH- It is the start of a new era in McDonald for their volleyball program. Mike Klockner, who was an assistant last season has taken over the reins. He brings a disciplined attitude to the Blue Devils that is sure to have them tightened up, with little unearned mistakes. McDonald lost their kills leader to graduation. Molly Howard finished the season with 199 kills. McDonald does however keep Megan Klockner who exploded on to the scene her freshman year. She promises to be one of the best setters in the area. McDonald opens the season August 21st at Columbiana.
