CLIPPERS STAY CONSISTENT

Columbiana’s volleyball team maintained their firm grip on the Eastern Ohio Athletic Conference (EOAC) with a commanding sweep of Leetonia, showcasing their dominance on the court. The final scores of 25-7, 25-14, and 25-12 reflected Columbiana’s ability to control the match and secure the win convincingly.

Key players for Columbiana played pivotal roles in their victory. Kelsey Cameron led the offensive charge with 9 kills, further establishing herself as a reliable source of scoring for her team. Her powerful play was complemented by an impressive 7 aces, showcasing her impact from the service line. Ellie Jackson demonstrated her versatility with 6 kills and 11 assists, emphasizing her role as a key playmaker for the team. Ava Heinrich’s defensive prowess shone through with 6 digs, and she contributed with 4 aces, adding to the team’s serving prowess. The match was marked by standout performances from several key players on the Columbiana team. Ellie Jackson emerged as a versatile and influential player, contributing 6 kills, 11 assists, and 6 digs. Her ability to both score and set up her teammates played a pivotal role in Columbiana’s success. Kelsey Cameron added to the offensive firepower with 6 kills and 3 aces, showcasing her ability to make an impact at the net and from the service line.

Cameron Perkins also made a significant contribution with 4 kills, 13 assists, and 8 digs, highlighting her all-around skills and leadership on the court. Danica Halas joined the offensive effort with 5 kills, further bolstering Columbiana’s attacking prowess.

Defensively, Ava Heinrich stood out with 10 digs and contributed 2 aces and 2 kills, underlining her role as a valuable asset on both ends of the court.

CLIPPERS TAKE ANOTHER TROPHY HOME

COLUMBIANA OH- In a thrilling display of skill and determination, Columbiana emerged victorious in the Division 2 category of the Terlesky girls’ golf tournament, showcasing their prowess on the golf course.

The team from Columbiana put forth a commendable effort, and their individual scores reflected their commitment to excellence. Leading the way was Sophia Perry, who posted a score of 97, setting a solid foundation for her team’s success. Hailey Muntean followed closely with a score of 100, contributing to the team’s impressive performance. Maddie Jackson’s score of 101 further bolstered Columbiana’s standing, demonstrating her consistency on the course. Claire Banner and Ellie Jackson also played vital roles, posting scores of 103 and 107, respectively.

Collectively, their efforts resulted in a team score of 401, a testament to their teamwork and dedication. This exceptional score not only secured their victory in the Division 2 category but also highlighted their ability to perform under pressure.

The victory, however, was not without its challenges, as Columbiana found themselves in a tiebreaker with Southeast to secure first place. In the end, their resilience and competitive spirit shone through, enabling them to clinch the top spot in the tournament.

COLUMBIANA CLIPS LISBON

LISBON, OH – It was a chilly autumn evening in Columbiana as the Clippers prepared to face off against their arch-rivals, the Lisbon Blue Devils. The atmosphere was charged with anticipation as fans from both teams gathered in the stands, ready to witness a fierce battle on the gridiron.

The Lisbon Blue Devils struck first, making their presence felt early in the game. Trevor Siefke, Lisbon’s agile running back, powered through the defense for a determined 6-yard touchdown run. Ben Weber’s extra point was good, and Lisbon took an early 7-0 lead.

But the Clippers were not about to let their rivals dictate the game. Columbiana quickly responded with a remarkable 18-yard touchdown run by Spencer Pruitt, who showcased his speed and agility as he weaved through defenders. Aidan Radcliff’s precise extra point tied the game at 7-7.

Lisbon was determined to maintain their lead, and they did so with a stunning 73-yard touchdown run by Ashton Hinchcliff. Ben Weber’s extra point was on target, putting Lisbon ahead 14-7.

Columbiana, however, continued to show their resilience. Quarterback Liam Surgenevic connected with Kian Hartley on a beautiful 36-yard touchdown pass. Aidan Radcliff’s extra point was good once again, leveling the score at 14-14.

As the game progressed, the Clippers seized control. Hayes McCoy, the Clippers’ quarterback, found Spencer Pruitt with a perfect 37-yard touchdown pass. Aidan Radcliff’s consistent kicking gave Columbiana a 21-14 lead.

The Clippers weren’t finished yet. Kian Hartley showcased his versatility with a 4-yard touchdown run, and Radcliff’s PAT extended the lead to 28-14 in favor of Columbiana.

But the Blue Devils wouldn’t back down. Trevor Siefke, determined to keep his team in the game, scored his second touchdown of the night with a gritty 3-yard run. Ben Weber’s extra point narrowed the gap to 28-21.

As the final minutes ticked away, Lisbon fought fiercely to try and tie the game, but the Columbiana Clippers’ defense held strong. The final whistle blew, and the Columbiana faithful erupted in cheers as their team emerged victorious, winning the intense showdown 28-21.

The game had been a true showcase of skill, determination, and the unyielding spirit of both teams. The rivalry between the Columbiana Clippers and the Lisbon Blue Devils had delivered another memorable chapter in their storied history, leaving fans on both sides eagerly awaiting the next thrilling encounter on the football field.

CLIPPERS FLY AWAY WITH EOAC CROWN

COLUMBIANA OH- The Columbiana golf team is redefining the word success when it comes to competing for league championships. The Clippers know nothing but success as for the past nine seasons Columbiana has been home to the league champions in golf. They can now stake that claim to number ten as the Clippers blew away the field at the EOAC golf tournament held Thursday at Salem Hills Golf and Country Club.

Senior Rocco Crawford shined as the defending medalist from a year ago repeated the feat carding a day’s best 76. Crawford’s 76 alongside Anthony Hall 80, Trenton Hall 83 and Blake Unger 88 guided Columbiana to a winning score of 320 and their seventh consecutive EOAC title.

United (379) would take second place on the day behind Mati Zines 85, Patrick Bryan 89, Michael Dangelo 92, and Emma Murphy 113.

Lisbon (399) finished third, Garrett Wallace carded a 78, while Cooper Mollenkopf added a 103, Deven Fox and Logan Sturgeon  each carded a 109 respectively.

East Palestine (415) took home fourth place as Josh Bland posted a 92, Adam Davis 94, Xander Pink 107 and Connor Conaway 122 all contributed to the Bulldogs on the day.

Southern (428) landed in fifth behind Wyatt Bach 88, Justus Black 102, Logan Howell 116, and Zac Mayfield 122.

Leetonia (488) placed sixth on the day, the Bears were led by Evan Rosko 100, Carter Bondi 126, Chase Bondi 128, and Lyla Oliver 134.

Wellsville was represented by a pair of golfers as Landon Ramsey posted a 95 and teammate Maddox Bosco scored a 119.

CLIPPERS CONVINCINGLY SWEEP HEARTLAND

COLUMBIANA OH- Columbiana’s volleyball team continued their impressive season with a swift and dominant 3-0 sweep over Heartland Christian. The scores of 25-12, 25-18, and 25-9 reflect Columbiana’s unwavering control and exceptional performance throughout the match.

The standout player of the night for Columbiana was Ellie Jackson, who displayed her versatility with an impressive double-double of 8 kills, 10 assists, and 12 digs. Her contributions on both offense and defense were instrumental in securing the victory.

Cameron Perkins also played a significant role, contributing 7 kills, 14 assists, and 7 digs, showcasing her ability to impact various facets of the game. Kelsey Cameron added 7 kills and 3 digs to bolster the team’s offensive firepower.

Ava Heinrich was a force to be reckoned with in the backline, registering an impressive 17 digs while also contributing 8 aces and 1 kill. Her consistent defensive efforts helped keep Heartland Christian at bay throughout the match.

The victory underscores Columbiana’s unbeaten streak and highlights their ability to work cohesively as a team. With another commanding win in the books, Columbiana sets its sights on the next challenge—a matchup against Valley Christian on Thursday. The team’s consistent performance and determination make them a formidable force in the world of high school volleyball.

COLUMBIANA COUNTY INVITATIONAL SEES REPEAT CHAMPIONS

COLUMBIANA OH- Repeat championships never come easy in sports. Columbiana’s girls golf team along with United’s Mati Zines both missed the memo as they repeated their feats from a year ago at the Columbiana County Girls Golf Invitational held Tuesday at Salem Hills Golf & Country Club. Zines repeated the individual honor and set the 18-hole school record with a round of 74. Columbiana took the team title carding score of 404.

The Clippers were led by Maddie Jackson 94, Hailey Muntean 100, Sophia Perry 103, and Hannah Moffett 107. United (415) took second behind Zines’ 74, Emma Murphy 102, Olivia Ashburn 114,and Abby Jones 125. Southern (441) was led to their third place finish by Kennedy Lewis 93, Paige Riggs 114, Caty Brewer 115, and Rylee Digman 119. East Palestine was represented individually by Kayla Bland 108 and teammate Addy Bycroft 110. Heartland Christians’s Evelyn Carpenter carded a 114 individually on the day as well.

CLIPPERS TAKE BATTLE WITH HUBBARD

COLUMBIANA OH- Columbiana welcomed Hubbard on Tuesday preparing for a battle between two of the area’s best golf teams. The Clippers came out on fire as they defeated the Eagles 154-160 at Valley Golf Club on Tuesday. Rocco Crawford and Anthony Hall each took the low score honors as the Clipper duo each posted a round of 37. Teammates Trenton Hall and Blake Unger also carded very solid rounds in the victory as each posted 40.

Hubbard’s Colten Smith led the way for the Eagles, carding a 38. Gate Rusnek and Matt Johnston recorded 39 respectively while Garret Brojkovich added a 44.

CLIPPERS SNAP WELLSVILLE WIN STREAK; TAKE FIRST PLACE IN EOAC

COLUMBIANA OH- Life features everyday occurrences we all take for granted such as the sun coming up, fresh air to breath and electricity. Since 2017, winning games in the EOAC has also become one of those occurrences for Wellsville volleyball winning their previous 76 straight conference contests. The Columbiana Clippers knew all too well of the win streak as the Clippers had fallen 14 consecutive times during that span last defeating the Tigers in 2015. Tuesday night the undefeated Clippers were looking at possibly their best opportunity to finally defeat the Tigers in 8 years. Columbiana took full advantage of that opportunity sweeping Wellsville 25-21, 25-10, 25-10.

The contest started just as so many have previously as Wellsville would take an early 10-4 1st set lead. Columbiana would settle down reeling off 6 consecutive points to tie it at 10-10. The Tigers would maintain a 3 point advantage most of the first set before Columbiana would take the lead at 22-21 on their way to claiming the 1st set victory 25-21.

The momentum of that 1st set win carried over to set number 2 as the Clippers raced out to a 9-0 lead and never looked back winning 25-10. The 3rd set saw the Tigers come out proving they were not going to go away easy claiming an early 8-5 lead. Following a side out, Columbiana’s Kelsey Cameron stepped to the service line looking to help her teams chances of a 3 set sweep. Cameron did more than help as the Junior would go onto serving 14 straight points guiding the Clippers to a commanding 20-9 lead. Ava Heinrich would finish the night off with 4 straight of her own as the Clippers would take the 3rd set 25-10 setting off an an emotional celebration on the floor amongst her teammates.

Ellie Jackson lead the Clippers with a strong all around performance posting 8 kills, 9 assists, and 10 digs.  Cameron added 15 points, 7 aces, 3 kills, while Heinrich contributed 16 points, 6 aces, and 10 digs. Cameron Perkins set the table all night tallying 15 assists, teammate Maryn Hepler would add 12 digs and 4 kills to the stat sheet on the night.

Wellsville was led by Presley Stokes 7 kills, 5 assists and 1 block. Wellsville (7-3, 6-1) returns home Thursday looking to stop a two game losing streak as they host United.  Columbiana (9-0, 7-0) has little time to celebrate with a quick turnaround as they host Heartland Christian on Wednesday.

CLIPPERS HAVE ALL ENGINES A GO AGAINST LISBON

COLUMBIANA OH- Columbiana secured an impressive conference win over the weekend with a Saturday sweep of Lisbon, dominating with scores of 25-10, 25-11, and 25-22. The Columbiana team displayed a well-rounded performance, with several players making significant contributions. Kelsey Cameron led the charge with 12 kills, 2 blocks, and 1 ace, demonstrating her prowess at the net.

Ellie Jackson delivered a standout triple-double performance, recording 10 kills, 14 assists, and 14 digs, showcasing her versatility and skill. Maryn Hepler contributed with 14 digs and 6 kills, while Ava Heinrich added 17 digs to Columbiana’s strong defensive effort. Cameron Perkins played a pivotal role with 19 assists, 5 kills, and 7 digs, orchestrating the team’s offensive plays effectively.

On the Lisbon side, Stefanee Stacey had 7 points and 13 digs, while Eliza Baker contributed 5 points and 11 digs. Kyrstin Reckner’s impressive 26 digs reflected her strong defensive presence. Columbiana’s Saturday sweep demonstrated their dominance in conference play, leaving Lisbon with a memorable victory.
