SPARTANS HELD QUIET BY RIVERSIDE

BOARDMAN OH- Boardman faced a tough challenge on Tuesday night as they were unable to generate much offense against Riverside, falling 3-0 in a pitcher’s duel.

The Riverside Beavers’ pitching staff kept Boardman’s bats quiet, limiting them to just 2 hits throughout the game. Maddie Wymer and Alex Ward each managed a hit for Boardman, while Olivia LaCivita drew a walk.

Despite Boardman’s efforts, Riverside’s offense managed to capitalize on their opportunities, scoring 3 runs on 10 hits.

In the circle for Boardman, Addie Kowacich pitched a solid game, going 6 innings and allowing 2 earned runs on 10 hits. Kowacich also recorded an impressive 9 strikeouts, keeping Boardman in the game.

FIGUEROA AND CANFIELD BLAST THEIR WAY TO SECOND STRAIGHT AAC CROWN

CANFIELD OH- Canfield continued their reign atop the AAC with a commanding 18-0 victory over Warren Harding, securing a share of the conference championship with Fitch for the second consecutive season.

The Canfield offense came out swinging, led by a remarkable performance from Leah Figueroa. Figueroa went 3 for 4 at the plate, blasting an incredible 3 home runs and driving in 8 RBIs while crossing the plate 3 times. Marina Koenig added to the onslaught with 2 hits and 3 RBIs, while Alexa Ignazio contributed a perfect 4-for-4 performance with 2 RBIs and 2 runs scored. Sammi Economous, Macy Kalina, and Caylee Ortiz also made significant contributions with hits and RBIs.

In the circle, Paris Lingdren was nearly untouchable, pitching a no-hitter over 5 innings. Lingdren’s dominant performance included 6 strikeouts and no hits or runs allowed, solidifying Canfield’s shutout victory.

YET ANOTHER AAC TITLE FOR FITCH

HOWLAND OH- Austintown Fitch continued their winning streak with a dominant 16-1 victory over Howland, securing a share of the AAC championship for the second straight year.

Fitch’s offense exploded with power and precision, led by a barrage of hits from multiple players. Kaliana Ray showcased her prowess at the plate with 2 singles, a home run, and an RBI, while her sister Ayla Ray added a homer and 2 RBIs. Kylie Folkwein contributed with a single, double, and home run, driving in 2 RBIs, while Sydnie Watts, Morgan Roby, Samantha Severn, and Miauna Jorge each added their own homers and RBIs. Abby Toth and Kameryn Scandy also chipped in with key hits and RBIs to fuel Fitch’s offensive onslaught.

In the circle, Sydnie Watts and Vita Kelty combined forces to stifle Howland’s offense. Watts pitched 3 innings, allowing just 3 hits and 1 earned run while striking out 5 batters, while Kelty closed out the game with 2 perfect innings, recording 3 strikeouts.

Howland managed to get on the board with Madison Schmitz’s home run and hits from Maya Kubancsek and Alyssa Massucci, but they couldn’t keep pace with Fitch’s explosive offense.

WARRIORS STRUGGLE WITH HIGH POWERED EAGLES OFFENSE

Geneva, OH- In a game marked by offensive fireworks, the Edgewood Warriors found themselves on the wrong end of an 18-6 scoreline despite outhitting Geneva in a baseball showdown on Tuesday.

The Warriors came out swinging, tallying eight hits compared to Geneva’s seven, but ultimately fell short in their quest for victory. Leading the charge for Edgewood was Tony Hall, who delivered an impressive performance with three hits in three at-bats, showcasing his offensive prowess throughout the game.
Geneva wasted no time in seizing control of the game, surging ahead in the bottom of the first inning with a barrage of runs. Shea Arkenburg ignited the scoring frenzy with a walk, paving the way for a series of hits and scoring opportunities that saw Curtis Maier double home two runs, followed by Austin Murphy and Hewitt Wilt each driving in additional runs with timely hits.
The onslaught continued in the second inning as Geneva capitalized on Edgewood’s defensive lapses, extending their lead with key hits and clutch performances at the plate. Despite Edgewood’s efforts to mount a comeback, Geneva’s relentless offensive assault proved too much to handle, as they continued to pile on the runs throughout the game.
On the pitching front, Shea Arkenburg earned the win for Geneva, showcasing his prowess on the mound by limiting Edgewood’s offense to just two hits and four runs over 2 1/3 innings, while striking out four batters and issuing only two walks.
For Edgewood, Caleb Johnson took over for Sean Lincoln in relief, but struggled to contain Geneva’s potent lineup, allowing multiple runs to cross the plate during their respective outings.
Despite the loss, Zane Naylor emerged as a bright spot for Edgewood, driving in three runs to lead the team offensively. Gino Measel also made significant contributions with two hits in three at-bats, but it wasn’t enough to overcome Geneva’s offensive onslaught.
For Geneva, Meyer and Keene Arkenberg stood out with three runs batted in each, providing crucial run support to complement their team’s strong pitching and offensive performance.
Looking ahead, Edgewood will aim to bounce back from their defeat as they prepare to face Cardinal at home on Thursday, hoping to regain their winning form. PAOLILLO’S NO HITTER OVERPOWERS BLUE DEVILS

Ashtabula, OH- Led by a dominant pitching display, the Edgewood Warriors claimed a resounding 4-0 victory over Independence in an exhilarating softball showdown on Tuesday, propelled by a stellar performance from sophomore pitcher Lucianna Paolillo.

Paolillo’s presence on the mound was nothing short of remarkable as she showcased her pitching prowess, striking out an impressive 14 batters over seven innings of play. Her impeccable command and precision allowed her to completely shut down Independence’s offense, conceding zero hits and runs while issuing only three walks throughout the game.
The Warriors wasted no time in asserting their dominance, opening the scoring in the first inning thanks to an error that allowed a crucial run to cross the plate. Despite Independence’s best efforts, pitcher Ally Biondi struggled to contain Edgewood’s potent lineup, surrendering four runs, three earned, on six hits over six innings of play.
Faith Vencill emerged as a key contributor for the Warriors, delivering a clutch performance with two runs batted in, including a scorching triple from the number seven spot in the lineup. Her timely hitting provided the offensive spark that propelled Edgewood to victory.
Alongside Vencill, Gianna Ianetta, Mckenna Vencill, Lucianna Paolillo, Addison Lamson, and Avery Vencill each contributed with one hit for the Warriors, collectively driving the team’s offense and keeping the pressure on Independence’s defense.

LAKERS SAIL PAST ROCKETS

Andover, OH- In an impressive game, the Pymatuning Valley Lakers cruised to a 12-0 victory over the Maplewood Rockets on Tuesday, led by a standout offensive display and stellar pitching.

Allison Clark proved to be a force at the plate for the Lakers, collecting three hits in four at-bats and playing a key role in driving in runs throughout the game. Clark’s consistent hitting contributed significantly to the Lakers’ offensive onslaught, setting the tone for their impressive victory.

The Lakers wasted no time asserting their dominance, jumping out to an early lead in the bottom of the first inning. Saige Payne’s double and Kylie Luke’s walk each drove in a run, putting the Lakers ahead from the start.

Building upon their lead, the Lakers extended their advantage in the second inning, with Payne and Luke once again playing pivotal roles in driving in runs for the team. McKenna Jordan’s double in the third inning further solidified the Lakers’ lead, pushing the score to 7-0.

The Lakers’ offensive explosion continued in the fourth inning, as they erupted for five runs on five hits to put the game out of reach for the Rockets. Kendall Gray, Clark, and Jordan delivered clutch hits to drive in runs and further extend the Lakers’ lead.

On the pitching front, Payne delivered a standout performance for the Lakers, earning the win after pitching five scoreless innings and striking out seven batters while allowing just four hits. SOUTH RANGE RUNNING TOWARDS THE FINAL STRETCH

CANFIELD OH- South Range came out swinging on Tuesday, delivering a commanding 12-2 run-rule victory over Ursuline.

The South Range offense was firing on all cylinders, led by Solena DeJesus’s outstanding performance. DeJesus went 3 for 4 at the plate, driving in an impressive 6 RBIs and scoring a run. Anna Aey contributed with a homer and an RBI, while Giada Pauline added 2 RBIs of her own. Gretchen Bartels and Keira Brogan also had hot bats, each tallying multiple hits and runs scored. Ashley Rupert rounded out the offensive onslaught with 2 hits, 1 RBI, and 2 runs scored.

In the circle, Jayli Wilt was stellar for South Range, pitching 6 innings of shutout ball. Wilt allowed just 2 hits and struck out 6 batters, keeping Ursuline’s offense at bay.

Ursuline managed to get on the board with Brooke Burton driving in a run and Savannah Patrone adding a hit, but it wasn’t enough to match South Range’s offensive firepower.

FALCONS GET SHOCKED BY BLUE STREAKS

Jefferson, OH- In a challenging baseball matchup, the Jefferson Falcons struggled to keep pace with the Madison Blue Streaks, ultimately falling short in a 16-5 defeat on Tuesday.

The Blue Streaks wasted no time asserting their dominance, surging ahead in the top of the second inning with a barrage of runs. A combination of walks, errors, and timely hits allowed Madison to jump out to an early lead, with Jack Harrison, Nolan Thomas, and Luke Lambert playing pivotal roles in driving in runs for the Blue Streaks.

Madison’s offensive onslaught continued in the third inning, as they erupted for eight runs on seven hits, effectively putting the game out of reach for the Falcons. Landon Tomco, Harrison, Evan Smith, and Eddy Gvora led the charge for the Blue Streaks, delivering key hits to extend their team’s lead.

Despite the Falcons’ efforts to rally, they struggled to contain Madison’s potent lineup. Lambert, the Falcons’ starting pitcher, faced difficulties on the mound, surrendering multiple runs and walks before being relieved.

Offensively, Tate Hudson emerged as a bright spot for the Falcons, driving in two runs to lead his team’s effort at the plate. However, the Falcons were unable to generate enough offense to mount a comeback against Madison’s strong pitching and defense.

Madison’s Gvora, in particular, proved to be a formidable force, both on the mound and at the plate, leading his team with a stellar performance. With three hits and solid pitching over five innings, Gvora played a crucial role in securing the Blue Streaks’ victory.

Despite the Falcons’ valiant effort, they ultimately fell short against a determined Madison squad. Looking ahead, the Falcons aim to regroup and bounce back in their upcoming road matchup against the St. John Heralds on Thursday, as they remain focused on turning the tide in their favor.

SPARTANS SPLIT THE SEASON SERIES WITH DRAGONS

Ashtabula, OH- In a rematch of Monday’s gams, the Conneaut Spartans emerged victorious with a narrow 5-4 win over the Lakeside Dragons on Tuesday, seizing the lead late in the game to secure their triumph.

The game reached a critical juncture in the top of the sixth inning when J.R. Hutchison delivered a clutch single, bringing in a crucial run to break the tie and propel the Spartans ahead. Earlier in the contest, the Spartans had laid the groundwork for their victory, getting on the scoreboard in the third inning courtesy of a double by Bryce Spurlin and a single by Anthony Rivera, each driving in a run.

Although the Dragons fought back, knotting the score in the fourth inning thanks to a line out by Gage Tome and an error, the Spartans refused to relent. Conneaut surged ahead once more in the fifth inning, with Rivera’s single giving them a narrow 3-2 lead.

Yet, the resilient Dragons answered back, with Matt Wagner’s timely single in the bottom of the fifth inning propelling Lakeside ahead 4-3. However, the Spartans countered yet again in the following frame, reclaiming the lead with Kyler Dean and Hutchison each delivering pivotal RBI singles.

Spurlin, the Spartans’ starting pitcher, proved instrumental in securing the win, delivering a strong performance on the mound. Despite facing pressure from the Dragons’ offense, Spurlin showcased his composure, allowing just six hits and four runs over seven innings while striking out eight batters.

On the offensive side, Rivera and Spurlin led the charge for the Spartans, each collecting two hits and contributing crucial RBIs to fuel their team’s victory. Hutchison, Dean, and Spurlin all played pivotal roles in driving in runs for the Spartans, further solidifying their offensive effort.

For the Lakeside Dragons, Wagner emerged as a standout performer, leading the team with two RBIs while also tallying two hits in the contest.

POLAND ANSWERS THE CALL ON SENIOR NIGHT

POLAND OH- In a thrilling matchup, the Poland Bulldogs emerged victorious over the Hubbard Eagles with a close 5-4 win this evening. Olivia Horn claimed the mound win for Poland, while Haleigh Taylor took the loss for Hubbard.

Hubbard took an early lead with 2 runs in the top of the first inning, but Poland quickly responded in the bottom half. Leanna Boccieri’s single drove in a run, and Mary Brant’s powerful homer to right field added 2 more RBIs, putting the Lady Bulldogs ahead 3-2.

Both teams’ offenses remained evenly matched throughout the game, with 8 hits apiece. Eight of the nine starters for the Bulldogs recorded hits, while Lauren Komorek led the Eagles with 3 hits, including a triple. Haleigh Taylor contributed significantly with a homer and a double, earning 2 RBIs for Hubbard, and Phoebe Rusnak added a double for the Lady Eagles.
