CRESTVIEW’S PERRY IS SCARY (GOOD)

The age-old question always comes into play when you’re discussing team sports against individual sports: Can a student-athlete do both?  Can they do them both WELL?

Usually, the answer is a resounding no, however, when you’re discussing Crestview’s Dominic Perry-it’s quite the opposite.

Perry not only is an Ohio State Champion in his own regard but doubles as a 4-year starter for Coach Cusick on the Rebel Football Team.  Not only that, but Dom is leaned on, and considered to be the heartbeat of the team amongst his teammates.

Our Dimitri Gregory caught up with Dom before this week’s Struthers game for our First Episode of Crestview Player Profile: CRESTVIEW’S PERRY IS SCARY (GOOD)

WAID-ING FOR HIS MOMENT

When you walk into a football stadium in week 1, there’s going to be a buzz no matter the town you’re from.  When your once in a generation Quarterback passes for over 300 yards in the first half, that buzz becomes electricity.

Girard’s Mark Waid has been the talk of the town for as long as anybody can remember, but when talking to anybody, he’s first to shed the credit.  He praises teammates, coaches, and family before he even speaks of what he does.  As Waid heads into Week 2 against rival Hubbard, we caught up with him to discuss the game, the season, and the college recruitment process for him.

Our first Girard Player Profile of 2018 is Mark Waid: WAID-ING FOR HIS MOMENT

HUMILITY IS EASY FOR JASON SANTISI

One look at Cardinal Mooney Senior Jason Santisi, and you know you’re in for a tough game no matter what side of the ball you’re on.  For Football North St. Joe’s last Friday night, the smooth tailback with an even smoother last name torched them for 4 scores including a 90-yard kick return to put the nail in the coffin.

However, when the pads come off, this headstrong, humble young man is first to give credit to his teammates, his family, and all those around him.  Jason Santisi is quite naturally a great football player, but it’s the other aspects in life that make his rich family heritage so proud day in and day out.

We had a chance to catch up with Jason following his Week 1 standout performance, and YSN General Manager chats it up with Mooney’s Monster in the backfield in our first Player Profile for Cardinal Mooney Football: HUMILITY IS EASY FOR JASON SANTISI

When you score three touchdowns in the opening week of your season, it’s hard not to get excited for what’s to come in Week 2!  For Beaver Local’s Donovan Garcia-it’s business as usual.  Garcia comes in as arguably the most underrated back in the area, but that’s a role he’s willing to take on with a smile.

Donovan Garcia is out to prove to the world that he’s a top-tier ball carrier, and prove it he will.

What does a game like that do for confidence, is there more adrenaline playing in front of a home crowd?

THE ALLEGRETO CRESCENDO

When you talk about elite athletes in the area, the name Isaac Allegreto is among the top of the names on that list.  As a South Range Sophomore, Allegreto was a hard-hitting defender who served as a jack of all trades when his name was called.  He served as a special teams stud for Coach Yeagley in 2017, and was the backup for the area’s most premier quarterbacks.

But, this year?

2018 is Isaac Allegreto’s stage, and he’s planning the grand crescendo this Fall at Raiders Stadium.

We caught up with QB1 for Coach Yeagley’s squad to talk about his mindset heading into Week 2 and their Home Opener against Cleveland JFK in this week’s South Range Player Profile:  THE ALLEGRETTO CRESCENDO

JUSTIN TIME FOR LISBON

The heartbeat is strong in Lisbon this year!  Among a great group of Seniors stands a leader with flowing locks like Thor, and plans to drop the hammer on opposing defenses.  The Devil’s Tailback, Justin Sweeney is detailed as an athlete, not just a football player.  He makes opposing coaches cringe with the athleticism, and versatility he possesses.

But in a great sit-down with Tyler Hoffman, Justin breaks down his love for his new coach, as well as what he wants to do after his Blue Devil days come to an end.
