TIGERS ROLL TO KOSEK’S 100TH WIN

NEW MIDDLETOWN OH- The Tigers earned a 6-0 victory Wednesday night vs MVAC opponent Brookfield.

The win is not only their fifth overall and their third shutout of the season, but it is also Head Coach Justin Kosek’s 100th career win. Springfield got 2 goals from Sami Shafer, 2 goals and an assist from Brionna Holt, 1 goal from Ava Vecchione, and 1 goal and 2 assists from Maddie Page. Caitlin Cappelli had 6 saves and Emma Mills had 1 for the Tigers.

Springfield travels to Garfield Monday night for another league matchup.

BIG FIRST HALF PROPELS RAMS

ATWATER OH-

The Mineral Ridge Rams traveled to Atwater tonight to face the Waterloo Vikings.  The Rams would put up 4 goals in the first half, add another in the second and concede only 1 goal late in the game from a penalty kick.

The Rams defeated their MVAC opponents tonight 5-1 and are now 4-2 on the season.  They host the Jackson Milton Blue Jays on Monday the 19th.

WARRIORS GRAB ANOTHER BIG WIN IN THE EBC

BELOIT OH- The West Branch girls soccer team picked up its sixth win of the season (6-0-1) and second in the EBC (2-0) Wednesday night with a 6-1 victory over Marlington.  The Warriors used even play in each half to secure the victory leading 3-0 at the half and posting another three goals in the second half.

Scoring for West Branch were Chloe Dennison and Lauren Gosset who each had a pair of goals.  Kennedy Berger and Haley Ridgway also scored goals for the Warriors.

Picking up assists were Daphne Snyder and Sophia Gregory.

In goal, Zoe Sanders had two saves and Emmy Jones had three saves.

The Warriors will head to Streetsboro on Saturday to take on the Rockets.  The game is scheduled to start at 3 PM.

CANFIELD KEEPS WINNING IN THE AAC

CANFIELD OH- The Cardinals girls soccer team has been the definition of dominant in the AAC over the last decade. That didn’t change on Wednesday night as Canfield improved to 5-1-0 and (2-0-0 in AAC) with a 3-1 win over Austintown Fitch.

Canfield goals were scored by Addy Masters, and Maci Toporcer with 2. Austintown got a goal contributed by Bailey Baker. Canfield assists were made by Maci Toporcer  Canfield goalkeeper Lauren Padgett had 4 saves  Austintown goalie Jordan Corel had 8 saves

QUAKERS GET SECOND EBC WIN

Salem boys soccer secured their second conference win tonight beating Minerva 4-1.

Scoring goals for Salem were Lance Bailey with 2, AR Berlin 1, and Tim Stephens 1. Assisting on the goals were Troy Gibson 1 , Cory Plunkett 1 and Ar Berlin 1.

Colin Reisen had 5 saves in goal.

Salem improves to 5-1-2 on the season and 2-0-0 in the EBC.

Salem will play next Tuesday September 20th against Carrollton at home at 6pm.

POTTERS GET FIRST WIN ON PATTERSON FIELD

EAST LIVERPOOL OH- The Potters Boys soccer team started strong with Ayden Wright scoring the first goal scored by the boys on the new turf surface and they never let up. Scoring 5 unanswered goals and getting the first win on the new turf field by shutting out the Harrison Central Huskies 5-0.

Jake Smith kept several shots from the Huskies out of the goal .

VIKINGS END GAME IN SCORELESS TIE WITH CHAMPION

ATWATER OH- Monday night, the Vikings traveled to Champion in an MVAC battle. The game featured high paced back and forth action and ended in 0-0 draw.

The Vikings were led by a steller defensive effort anchored by Lillie Snyder, Kayla Thompson, Lilly Foster, and before her injury Gabby Gonzalez. Grace Yarian was phenomenal in goal with 9 saves. The midfield featuring, Bayley English, Abby Mazur,  Ronnie England, Carlertta Henry, Courtney Eisenbraun, Mya Bennett, and Marion did a great job of rotating keeping shape.

The Vikings got great attacking play from Kaira English, Olivia Boyle, Rose Couts, Sydney Jackson and Chloe Guth. Overall the Vikings played hard and several players stepped up to help the team preserve the draw.

The team returns to action. Wednesday at home in a league matchup at 5 pm. Please come on out and support the Vikings!

SALEM SECURES SHUTOUT OF BEAVER LOCAL

SALEM OH- Salem Girls Soccer traveled to Beaver Local to take on the Beavers in a non-conference matchup.  The Lady Quakers came out with a 4-0 win by scoring four first half goals.  Scoring on the night for Salem were Rylee Hutton with two goals and Mikaylynn Murphy and Abbie Davidson with a goal each.  Assists were provided by Hanna Gaither, Hutton and Murphy.  In goal, Kaylee Carlisle had 6 saves as she kept her 4th clean sheet of the season.  The Lady Quakers improve to 5-2 on the season.

In the JV match, Salem won by the score of 3-0 in one half of action.  Karlie Sampson had 2 goals and Annika Murray scored as well on the night for the Quakers.  Maria Juan Diego had the lone assist for Salem.  The defense played great all evening as Paige Menough did not need to make a save to earn her 4th shutout of the season.  The young Quakers improve to 4-2 on the season.

The Lady Quakers next opponent will be in the EBC as they travel to Minerva for a varsity only match at 6:00 pm on Wednesday September 14th.

WILDCATS DOMINATE GIRARD

STRUTHERS OH-

Struthers girls dominate Girard on the soccer field 4-1 in an exciting Monday night home game. Struthers was able to put away 3 in the first half with goals from Katelyn Kimble, Lorieona Jannone, and Lexa Tovtin and again in the second with another one by Jannone.

Great job to both teams!

The soccer cats are on the road the rest of the week.

BOARDMAN OH- Canfield travelled to Boardman and improved to 4-1-0 with a 6-1 win on Monday night.
