MOHAWK CONTINUES TO ROLL; EDGE LAUREL

BESSEMER, PA- Mohawk ran off with the lead late in the game in a 3-2 victory over Laurel on Thursday. The game was tied at two with the Warriors batting in the bottom of the sixth when Bobby Fadden was hit by a pitch, driving in a run.

The pitching was strong on both sides. Mohawk pitchers struck out 11, while Laurel pitchers sat down five.

Laurel got things started in the second inning. Laurel scored two runs when Hunter Kobialka singled.

The Warriors knotted the game up at two in the bottom of the fourth inning, when Mason Hopper doubled on a 1-2 count, scoring two runs.

Ethan Hare got the win for Mohawk. Hare lasted four innings, allowing two hits and zero runs while striking out six. Fadden threw one inning in relief out of the bullpen.

Robert Kissick was on the hill for Laurel. The pitcher lasted five and a third innings, allowing one hit and three runs while striking out four. Tyler Shearer threw two-thirds of an inning in relief out of the bullpen.

Briar Crawford started the game for the Warriors. The bulldog went two innings, allowing two runs on one hit and striking out three

Hopper went 1-for-2 at the plate to lead Mohawk in hits.

MOHAWK BLASTS PAST LADY QUIPS

BESSEMER, PA- The Mohawk Volleyball team flexed their muscles on Monday night in a match against Aliquippa, winning 23-16, 25-0, 25-12 in straight sets.

Estelle Winck served 25 points in a row in the second set, and blanked Aliquippa with 14 aces along the way.  Audrey Magno had 10 digs and 5 kills on the night.  Deyani Revis and Dominique Walko each contributed a half-dozen digs.  Jenna Barth also shined with 11 points and four aces.

 

WARRIORS COME OUT TO PLAY IN A BIG WAY; ROUGH UP YOUGH

HIGHLAND PARK, PA- J.C. Voss wasted no opportunities at the plate, driving in six on two hits to lead Mohawk past Yough 15-1 on Thursday. Voss drove in runs on a single in the second and a grand slam in the third.

The Warriors secured the victory thanks to eight runs in the second inning. A.J. Verdi, Aidan Bowser, Voss, and Marc Conti powered the big inning with RBIs.

Brady Harman led the Warriors to victory on the pitcher’s mound. Harman went three innings, allowing one run on one hit and striking out four. Voss and Lucas Cummings entered the game out of the bullpen and helped to close out the game in relief.

Jack Sampson took the loss for Yough. The righty surrendered eight runs on five hits over two innings, striking out two.

Mohawk tallied 12 hits. Jacob Werner, Voss, Conti, and Cooper Vance each collected multiple hits for the Warriors. Vance, Conti, Voss, and Werner each managed two hits to lead Mohawk the team.

Gavin Roebuck led Yough with two hits in two at-bats.

PITCHING COMES UP STRONG FOR MOHAWK

BESSEMER, PA- Mohawk built a four-run lead in the fifth inning and then held off Rochester’s charge for a 6-5 victory on Monday. Rochester scored three runs in the failed comeback on a stolen base by Sal Laure, a, and a single by Logan Lyons.

The Warriors earned the victory despite allowing Rochester to score three runs in the sixth inning. The offensive firepower by Rochester was led by Ethan Blair, Justin Schurr, and Lyons, all sending runners across the plate with RBIs in the inning.

Rochester got things started in the first inning. Rochester scored one run when Parker Lyons singled.

Mohawk pulled away for good with two runs in the fourth inning. In the fourth A.J. Verdi’s sac fly scored one run for Mohawk Area Warriors Varsity and Parker Harman grounded out, scoring one run.

Mohawk notched three runs in the fifth inning. The offensive firepower from the Warriors was led by Marc Conti and Jay Wrona, who each had RBIs in the inning.

Conti was credited with the victory for Mohawk. The pitcher allowed two hits and two runs over four innings, striking out two and walking one. J.C. Voss and Lucas Cummings entered the game out of the bullpen and helped to close out the game in relief. Cummings recorded the last three outs to earn the save for Mohawk.

Lyons took the loss for Rochester. The pitcher went three innings, allowing one run on five hits and walking zero.

The Warriors racked up 13 hits in the game. Conti, Garrison Staph, Voss, Cooper Vance, and Wrona each racked up multiple hits for Mohawk. Conti led Mohawk with three hits in three at-bats.

Lyons went 2-for-4 at the plate to lead Rochester in hits. Rochester didn’t commit a single error in the field. Laure had the most chances in the field with five.

MOHAWK DROPS LEAD LATE TO UNION

BESSEMER, PA- Mohawk stayed in it until the end, but Union pulled away late in an 8-6 victory on Monday. The game was tied at six with Union batting in the top of the eighth when Bella Cameron doubled on the first pitch of the at bat, scoring one run.

Mohawk collected seven hits and Union had nine in the high-scoring affair.

Mohawk fired up the offense in the first inning. Maya McGreal singled on the first pitch of the at bat, scoring two runs.

Union knotted the game up at six in the top of the seventh inning, when.

Union scored four runs in the fifth inning. The Lady Scottie’s big inning was driven by doubles by M Preuhs and A Nogay and a single by M Gorgacs.

Jendrysik got the start for Union. The ace lasted two innings, allowing three hits and two runs while striking out three and walking zero.

GiGi Cowher was in the pitcher’s circle for Mohawk. The pitcher surrendered eight runs on nine hits over eight innings, striking out ten.

Mohawk Area racked up seven hits in the game. Aricka Young, Alivia Hare, and McGreal each racked up multiple hits for Mohawk. Young led Mohawk with three hits in four at bats. Mohawk tore up the base paths, as two players stole at least two bases. Hare led the way with three.

Union Area racked up nine hits on the day. E Siddall, Preuhs, and Cameron all had multiple hits for Union.

MOHAWK WINS BATTLE OF THE BORDER

STRUTHERS, OH- Mohawk defeated Champion 10-0 on Thursday as three pitchers combined to throw a shutout. Brady Harman induced a groundout from Micah Nolan to finish off the game for the Warriors.

Mohawk put up five runs in the sixth inning. Jay MichaelWrona, Cooper Vance, Lucas Cummings, Harman, and Aidan Bowser each had RBIs in the big inning.

A single by Tyler Skaggs in the fourth inning was a positive for Champion.

Cooper Vance led the Warriors to victory on the hill. The pitcher went two innings, allowing zero runs on zero hits and striking out five. Marc Conti and Harman entered the game out of the bullpen and helped to close out the game in relief.

Nate Holt took the loss for Champion. The bulldog allowed nine hits and eight runs over five and two-thirds innings, striking out two.

Mohawk racked up 14 hits. Conti, Bowser, J.C. Voss, and Harman all managed multiple hits for Mohawk. Bowser and Conti all had three hits to lead the team.

CUMMINGS GETS GOING; TOSSES NO NO AGAINST FREEDOM

BESSEMER, PA- Lucas Cummings was brilliant on the pitcher’s mound on Monday, as Cummings threw a no-hitter to lead Mohawk Warriors past Freedom 15-0.

The Warriors got on the board in the first inning when Cummings tripled on a 1-1 count, scoring three runs.

Cummings was the winning pitcher for Mohawk Area Warriors Varsity. The righty went four innings, allowing zero runs on zero hits, striking out six, and walking zero.

Jacob Milbert took the loss for Freedom. The bulldog allowed six hits and 11 runs over three innings, striking out one.

Mohawk racked up nine hits on the day. Jay Wrona and Brady Harman all managed multiple hits for Mohawk. Jay Michael Wrona led Mohawk with three hits in three at-bats.

LADY WARRIORS COMEBACK FALLS SHORT AGAINST LAUREL

BESSEMER , PA- Thursday was a long day for Mohawk, falling to Laurel 14-4.

Laurel took the lead for good with nine runs in the second inning. In the second an error scored one run for Laurel, Boyd was hit by a pitch, driving in a run, Miles drew a walk, scoring one run,  Zeppelin drew a walk, scoring one run, Maine singled on a 1-2 count, scoring two runs, Brua drew a walk, scoring one run, Deal drew a walk, scoring one run, and Kissick drew a walk, scoring one run.

Boyd got the start for Laurel. The bulldog went five innings, allowing four runs on three hits and striking out seven.

GiGi Cowher started the game for Mohawk. The hurler surrendered 11 runs on four hits over one inning, striking out one. Aricka Young threw three and two-thirds innings in relief.

Maya McGreal, Young, and Ava Nulph each collected one hit to lead the Lady Warriors.

Deal led Laurel with two hits in three at-bats.

WARRIORS DROP BEAVER FALLS ON THE BASEPATHS

BESSEMER, PA- Mohawk easily dispatched Beaver Falls 10-1 on Friday

The Warriors got things moving in the first inning, when J.C. Voss singled on a 3-2 count, scoring two runs.

Mohawk notched three runs in the second inning. A.J. Verdi had an RBI sacrifice fly in the inning to lead the run-scoring.

Brady Harman earned the win for Mohawk. The pitcher went three innings, allowing one run on zero hits and striking out five. Cooper Vance and Jacob Werner entered the game out of the bullpen and helped to close out the game in relief.

Jacob Barnes took the loss for Beaver Falls. The pitcher went five and two-thirds innings, allowing eight runs on 11 hits and striking out one.

The Warrior offense collected 14 hits. Harman, Vance, Verdi, Voss, and Lucas Cummings all managed multiple hits. Harman went 3-for-4 at the plate to lead Mohawk in hits.

COWHER HAS A NIGHT; STRIKES OUT 13, AND WALKS OFF RIVERSIDE

BESSEMER, PA- Mohawk defeated Riverside 3-2 on Wednesday thanks to a walk-off single. The game was tied at two with Mohawk Area Warriors Varsity batting in the bottom of the eighth when GiGi Cowher singled on a 2-0 count, scoring the game-winner from second base.

The pitching was strong on both sides as well. Cowher struck out 13, while Sam Rosenberger sat down ten.

Riverside got things started in the first inning. Rosenberger singled on a 3-2 count, scoring one run.  Riverside evened things up at two in the top of the seventh inning. Rosenberger grounded out into a double play but scored a run in the process.

Cowher toed the rubber for Mohawk, the fireballer went eight innings, allowing two runs on five hits and striking out 13.

Rosenberger led things off in the pitcher’s circle for Riverside. The hurler went seven and two-thirds innings, allowing three runs on eight hits and striking out ten.

Aricka Young led the Lady Warriors with three hits in four at-bats.

Riverside saw the ball well today, racking up five hits in the game. Danny Rosenberger and Sam Rosenberger all collected multiple hits for Riverside. Riverside tore up the base paths, as two players stole at least two bases. Rosenberger led the way with three.
