Poland set the tone early opening the game on a 12-0 run. All twelve points were from three point land. It was a night where the Bulldogs shot the lights out of the gym, especially in the first half. Through two quarters the Bulldogs shot 10 of 19 from beyond the arc. That’s 53%, well above their season average. Jackie Grisdale was a huge reason why. She hit five threes in the first half alone. In fourth quarter Poland ran consecutive sets that were meant to get Grisdale open trying to give her a record breaking performance, but she missed her last three shots of the game. With about five minutes left in the fourth, Coach Blanch made the call to the bench which ended the day for Jackie and the rest of the starters. Poland would go on to win 62-31.

POLAND TOP DOG IN CLASH WITH SOUTH RANGE

Control of the league hung in the balance Monday night when Poland traveled to South Range. Poland proved to still be the class of the league with an impressive 51-35 win over the Raiders.

The magnitude of the game was felt from the tip as the jump ball to start the game flew out of bounds before anyone could get to it, on the second try there was an immediate scrum on the floor for it. The Raiders got on the board in their first possession with a pair of free throws. 2-0 would prove to be the only lead the Raiders would have. Brooke Bobbey nailed a three on the other end to make it 3-2 and Poland would lead throughout the rest of the game.

That’s not to say the Raiders didn’t keep it competitive. They trailed by just one towards the end of the first gram before Grisdale hit a three in the closing seconds. She would do the same in the closing seconds of the first half to make a four point lead seven. 22-15 Poland led at the break. Izzy Lamparty had to spend much of the second quarter on the bench with three fouls.

The Raiders came out of the break with energy and got the lead cut to three, 28-25 but Jackie Grisdale seemed to hit a shot in every big situation for the Bulldogs. She made it 30-25 and the Bulldogs would score five more before the end of the third to make it 35-25.

Poland jumped way ahead in the final frame opening it on a 6-0 run and stretching their lead to 41-25. The Raiders with one more gasp of hope put together an 8-0 run cutting the lead to 41-33 with just over two minutes left in the game. It was all Poland from the jump as the Bulldogs started the game on a 9-0 run and never looked back from there. The Bulldogs got contributions from a lot of players on the night. 12 Bulldogs got on the stat sheet. Only one player that got into the game didn’t score.

Jackie Grisdale led the team with 21 points 5 rebounds. Morgan Kluchar added 7, three players finished with 6. Kailyn Brown, Brooke Bobbey, and Arianna Daniels.

POLAND ALL SMILES IN WIN OVER LIBERTY

POLAND, OH- The Poland Lady Bulldogs were in a place on Saturday where they haven’t been in quite some time, in a losing streak. The schedule did not get any easier either as they welcomed in a one-loss Liberty team. However, Poland looked sharp as they dominated Liberty in a 63-43 victory.

The first quarter lived up to the billing of the matchup. Liberty and Poland traded blows back and forth. Both offenses seemed to be in a good rhythm as the first quarter ended with 12-11 Liberty lead. This trend would not last, however, as Poland’s defense started to rush the Leopards into plenty of unforced turnovers. That coupled with Liberty foul trouble made It easy for Poland to shoot ahead and take a commanding lead.

Things were never in doubt for the Bulldogs after halftime as the closest the Leopards could get in the second half is 9 points. Poland’s defense is what everyone would expect. Their offense however who has struggled at times this year really had success. 63 points is the highest total for the Bulldog offense, and on the other end of the floor 43 was by far the lowest total Liberty had been held to this season.

Jackie Grisdale led the Bulldogs with 20 points 7 rebounds and Kailyn Brown gathered a double-double with 17 points 10 rebounds.

Poland returns to action Monday as they host Hubbard.
