THE RAIDER LOGAMOTIVE

CANFIELD, OH- Every mode of transport only goes as far as the engine will take them.  Cars, Trains, Planes, and Humans are all restricted by what is being fueled.

The South Range Raiders are no different.

Their final destination they’re looking to achieve is Canton, Ohio.  The conductor is one of the best coaching staffs in the area, led by one of the best to ever walk the sidelines in Northeast Ohio.  The gas is the high-octane skill players littered all over the field on offense and defense clad in burgundy and gold.

The engine?

The engine is a hybrid of an athlete that has a never-quit motor on both sides of the football.  A young man who has helped mold the character of this very football team.  A fan of the game, a fan of his teammates, and a guy that will do whatever it takes to make sure his team are the last ones standing.

The engine, you ask?

The “Logamotive” Logan Cormell, a multi-sport athlete who has Raider fans smiling, opposing coaches baffled, and recruiters at the next level drooling.

We had the honor to sit down with Cormell to talk about the perfect season thus far, his teammates, his role models, and a little Steelers/Browns mixed in.

FINA-LALLY HIS TIME!

CANFIELD, OH- You can’t teach size.

However, when you find a player with size, athleticism, IQ, and a chip on his shoulder the size of Texas- you find a special talent.

You’ve found South Range’s, Michael Lally.

At 6’1, 285 pounds- Lally’s size makes him a force.  It’s all the other intangibles, however, that make him so dangerous on this Raider Offensive line.  The Raider offense has come out on-top in each contest they’ve competed in to this point.  Lally’s job is to create creases for his backs, and keep Billy Skripac’s uniform clean.

Check, and check.

Lally has opened lanes wider than most highways, and “17’s” jersey is so clean- it’s been used in Tide commercials.

Regardless of all of this, Lally is the type of young man you’re proud to call a friend.  He’s the type of young man that engages YOU in conversation during those awkward teenage years when most shy away and hide behind their phones.  When most see 77 on a Friday (or Saturday) night- it’s enough to strike fear into your world, but once you get to know him- he’s one of the most stand up individuals you’ve ever encountered.

We had the chance to sit down with Big Mike for this week’s South Range Player Profile: FINA-LALLY HIS TIME!

SOUTH RANGE GIRLS BASKETBALL COACH’S CORNER (EP 1) WITH JEFF FISHEL

Now, in his third year, Raider fans will really be able to see the impact coach Fishel has had on this program. The players that will shine brightest are the ones he has been personally developing. Some familiar faces, some new ones, but it promises to be another exciting season on the Range. The Raiders open the season November 19th at home against Salem.

RAIDERS SHUT DOWN HUBBARD TO TAKE NE8 TITLE

CANFIELD OH- In what was a highly billed matchup between two undefeated teams, it was South Range that was a class above on Friday night. The Raiders shut down Hubbard to earn their second straight NE8 championship
34-0.

The story of the game was South Range’s ability to go to the air. Both teams were pretty even as far as how much they were able to run. The Raiders ran for just over 170 yards, and Hubbard ran for just over 150. The difference was South Range out gained Hubbard 142-0 through the air. Dylan Dominguez had 17 carries for 58 yards. Billy Skripac ran for 68 yards on 17 carries. He also threw for 142 yards on 7/12 passing. He threw for two touchdowns. Dominguez punched a touchdown in from 5 yards out.

Landon Bates led the Eagles offense gaining 81 yards on 12 touches. TC Caffey was slowed down for 71 yards on 20 touches.

Both South Range and Hubbard have bright playoff aspirations ahead of them. Stay tuned to YSN for updates on schedules and pairings for postseason football.

THE STORM IS COMING

CANFIELD OH- There is something brewing in the South Range football program, something special. It’s a perfect storm of speed, power, and awareness. It comes in the form of Shane Lindstrom.

Lindstrom is just one of many dynamic weapons the Raiders have used this year to sail to a 9-0 start. The Raiders love to use Shane to stretch the field and spread defenses out. But he can also bounce off tackles and make people miss in open space. That was put on glorious display in their game against Jefferson when Lindstrom ran back one of the most exciting punt returns you’ll ever see. He used every trick in the book, spin moves hurtles, you name it he broke it out to get to the endzone. It’s a big reason Shane was put on as a nominee as Baird Brother’s Big Dog of the Valley. Raider Nation did the rest, voting him to the top spot.

Shane took the time to join YSN’s Running Point this week to talk about his season. He chats with Anthony Hartwig, and Ty Bartell about that punt return, what makes his team special and much more. Find some shelter if your venturing to South Range because the storm is coming. Check out this exclusive interview with Shane Lindstrom the Week 6 Big of the Valley champion.

RAIDERS SET UP UNDEFEATED CLASH IN WEEK 10

CORTLAND OH- Friday night South Range came into week 9’s game vs Lakeview looking to stay undefeated and get ready for next weeks battle with Hubbard. The Bulldogs were not going to make it easy for the Raiders to get win #9 on the season.

Lakeview got the opening kick and proceeded to drive down the field and score first on a 31yd field goal from Ownen Vlk.

The Raiders were in an unfamiliar situation, being down early. But they rallied and took their opening drive down and scored on a one yard run from Qb Billy Skripac. The extra point was blocked and the first quarter was over with the Raiders holding a 6-3 lead. But the storm was coming In the second quarter.

The Raiders exploded in the second frame with 3 throwing touchdowns from Skripac. He spread it out to 3 different receivers (JD Crouse, Shane Lindstrom, Ayden Leon).

Lakeview had a touchdown of their own as Nate Fox found Hayden Bartram in the back of the end zone for the td. The first half ended with the Raiders leading 35-10.

The Raiders would add 2 more scores in the second half to end the game with a 49-10 score. South Range now prepares for their biggest test of the year as undefeated Hubbard comes to town in week 10. This will be the first time in 30 years that 2 undefeated teams will meet in week 10 in the valley. And there will be a ton on the line. The NE8 championship and playoff positioning for both teams. Lakeview will travel to Jefferson looking for their first win of the season. Week 10 will be exciting for both teams.

RAIDERMANIA RUNS WILD ON JEFFERSON

CANFIELD, OH- Entering Raider Stadium on Friday night, you could feel a special night was about to occur.  It was “Tackle Cancer” night for South Range, where players, coaches, cheerleaders, and fans alike were decked out in pink to support breast cancer awareness.

There was more than that, though.  You could feel that even with a little extra electricity in the air, the undefeated Raiders were hungry- and Jefferson was to be the main course.

Only nobody told them.

The opening drive lasted five plays as South Range continued to showcase their quick-strike abilities as Billy Skripac capped the first drive with a five-yard carry into the end-zone to put the Raiders on top 7-0.

The lead was short-lived with Jefferson Freshman, Kaige Boczar taking the ensuing kickoff back to the house down the left sideline from 88-yards out to knot the game at 7-7.

Then, Dylan Dominguez and Shane Lindstrom (AKA The Mega Powers) entered the match, and just as Hulk Hogan entertained 90,000 people against Andre The Giant in Wrestlemania III, the dynamic duo dazzled the Raider fans for the rest of the night.

Dominguez would take the first of his four touchdowns in from 19 yards out with just under nine minutes left to go in the first quarter, followed by another on the next drive from 38 yards out with a few ticks under 5-minutes remaining in the first stanza to give the Raiders a 21-7 lead.

Falcon QB Grant Hitchcock showed incredible athleticism behind his line, as he found himself in the endzone on the tail end of a 52-yard scamper to keep Jefferson in the fight.

However, the finisher came at the hands of Lindstrom just moments before halftime when the madness took over on an 82-yard punt return as time expired on the first half.  Lindstrom’s return was more out of the movie “Dodgeball” as he dodged, dove dipped, ducked, and…hurdled his way into the paint before being practically carried into the locker room at the break with a 42-21 lead.

Following the halftime festivities, The Raiders came out firing through the air as Skripac would fire a strike to Connor Jones from 11-yards out, only to be encored by Dominguez again with the ground attack from 65 yards out to cap the Raiders 63-21 victory.

South Range would rack up 313 yards on the ground and 176 yards through the air to stack their eighth straight victory in the 2021 campaign.  Dylan Dominguez would carry the ball nine times for 185 yards and four scores.  Billy Skripac would rush 8 times for 72 yards, and throw for 176 as well.

Grant Hitchcock would lead Falcon rushers with 9 carries for 101 yards and a score while taking to the skies 21 times and completing 14 passes for 88 yards.  Wade Woodworth would add a score on 43 yards rushing on 20 attempts.  Kaige Boczar would have six receptions for 44 yards.

The Raiders (8-0) now turn their attention and prepare for a road game against Lakeview in Week 9, while Jefferson (3-5) will look to keep their playoff dreams alive against Poland next week at the Falcon Nest.

Both games will be on YSNLive.com.
