BELL HAS CAREER NIGHT, LISBON ROUTS TIGERS

WELLSVILLE, OH- It was all business for Senior Standout, Logan Bell and the Lisbon Blue Devils on Monday Night.  Bell came to the ballpark in Wellsville 14 strikeouts shy of the single-season school record.  While he ended up just shy of that on Monday, he contributed in plenty of other areas to beat Wellsville 16-1.

Bell would go 3-4 with two doubles, and a grand slam, driving in 8 runs on the night.

Lisbon got things moving in the first inning, when Bell doubled on the first pitch of the at-bat, driving in one.  However, the sixth was the capper for the Blue Devils.  Lisbon tallied seven runs which came from singles by Tyler Welsh and Ryan Reckner, a walk by Justin Sweeney, and a deep fly by Bell.

Bell also was the winning pitcher for Lisbon. He went six innings, allowing one run on three hits, striking out 12 and walking one.  Bell didn’t allow a hit until the fourth inning on a Seth Kerner single.

For Wellsville, Kerner took the loss. He lasted one and two-thirds innings, allowing seven hits and eight runs while striking out one and walking one.

KERNER WALKS IT OFF, WELLSVILLE SHOCKS UNITED

WELLSVILLE, OH- The Tigers have been waiting for their time to pounce.  Wednesday night provided the perfect circumstances as they hosted league-leader, United.

Wellsville bested the Eagles 5-4 in eight innings with the help of Seth Kerner’s one-out walk-off single.

That wasn’t all for Kerner, as he also went seven innings on the bump, striking out 11, and walking a pair.

Connor Ramsey also earned his stripes with a hit on Wednesday, and Cole Corbin drove in the majority of runners with 3.

For the Eagles- Parker Hydrick led the way with 2 RBI, Ethan Antram went 2-4, and Gunner McIntosh went 2-3 while driving in one.

BULLDOGS GRAB LATE LEAD, SNEAK PAST WELLSVILLE

NEW WATERFORD, OH- The East Palestine Bulldogs nabbed the lead late in the game in a 3-1 victory over Wellsville on Monday. The game was tied at one with East Palestine batting in the bottom of the sixth when an error scored one run for the Bulldogs.

CHASE HIM OFF, COLUMBIANA WALKS OFF WELLSVILLE

COLUMBIANA, OH-  Columbiana (5-6, 4-2) defeated Wellsville (5-6, 3-4) 5-4 in 8 innings on Tuesday afternoon.  Chase Franken was the hero with a walk-off bases-loaded sacrifice fly to left scoring Wayne Davis who had reached earlier on an error to give the Clippers the win.

Wellsville struck first scoring 3 runs in the second inning, but the Clippers quickly responded in the bottom frame getting two themselves.  Zach Pleska singled and ended up on third after two Tiger errors and scored on an RBI groundout by Matt Mazei.  With two outs Seth Ross would walk and after moving to second on a balk would score on a Franken 2 out RBI single.

The Clippers tied the game up in the fourth inning when Seth Ross singled and scored on Franken’s third hit of the day this time a triple.  Columbiana would notch another in the 5th after a Pleska sacrifice fly but Wellsville managed to tie the game in the 7th on a sacrifice fly themselves.

In the bottom of the 8th inning, Davis would reach on an error followed by Tyler Andersen and Ross each singling which led to Franken’s heroics.

At the plate, Franken was 3-3 with a double, triple a walk and knocked in 3 runs.  Ryan Fahs had two hits including a double while Seth Ross notched two singles and a walk.

On the mound, Evan Kenneally got the start and pitched 6 1/3 innings before being lifted in the seventh.  Kenneally’s line was a good one as he gave up 4 runs (2 earned) over that span while striking out 5.  Fahs (2-1) would earn the win in relief after finishing the seventh and pitching a perfect 8th inning.

For Wellsville, Justin Thirtyacre went five innings giving up 4 runs on 5 hits while striking out three, and walking four.  Cole Corbin took the loss in relief pitching 2.1 innings and giving up a lone tally in the runs column.  Offensively, Garrett Krzyston and Jon Walker paced the Tigers with 2 RBI apiece.
