UNITED TAMES THE TIGERS

HANOVERTON OH-

United coming off a close come from behind victory on Monday over Southern was looking to get out of the gate quickly against Wellsville. The Eagles from the opening tip raced out quickly and never looked back posting a dominating 59-11 performance over Wellsville Thursday night.

United took full advantage of the Wellsville 2-3 zone connecting early and often leading to a 25-2 first quarter lead.  Madison Kibler was the one of the benefactors of that zone connecting from the outside on her way to a season high 15 points. Teammate Grace Knight turned in a solid all-around  performance posting 10 pts / 6 rebs.

Coach Josh Sigler was very happy about the offensive output “Bottom line is we need to finish better and we did that tonight, it was a huge improvement over Monday night.  We need to play every night as if there is no tomorrow”  The Eagles suffocating defense forced the Tigers to commit 27 turnovers and led to a 45-2 halftime lead. Addyson Blazer and Grayson Kidder contributed 8 points each for the victors.  Wellsville was led by Isabella Poppleriter  with 5 points.

United’s fourth consecutive victory sets up a big EOAC showdown on Monday Night which coach Sigler knows is one that will be highly contested.  “ Columbiana is a very good team, we need to bring our best performance in all facets of the game.”  Asked what kind of environment to expect Monday night “ I expect the gym to be packed, we have a motto of ALL IN and that expectation goes to everyone in our program from the youth level, to our players, coaches, fans, and parents in the stands.  We consider everyone associated with our program a vital part of the team.”

United (4-1, 3-0) vs Columbiana (4-1, 3-0) is slated for Monday at United, 2 quarter JV game tips at 5:30.
