WARRIORS HAPPY TO GET ROLLING

BELOIT OH- Addi Craven collected three hits in four at bats, as West Branch defeated Girard 12-2 on Thursday. Craven tripled in the second inning, doubled in the third inning, and singled in the fifth inning.

The Warriors won thanks in part to seven runs in the third inning. Mati Hawk singled, scoring one run, Craven doubled, scoring one run, Klary McKay drew a walk, scoring one run, Nicole Stoffer doubled, scoring two runs, and Josie Milliken singled, scoring one run.

West Branch got on the board in the second inning after McKay singled, scoring one run. Kylie Carpenter singled, which helped Girard tie the game at one in the top of the third.

McKay earned the win for West Branch. The starting pitcher gave up seven hits and two runs over five innings, striking out eight and walking none. Brooklyn Broll took the loss for Girard. The right-handed pitcher went two and one-third innings, allowing five runs on seven hits, striking out none and walking one.

The Warriors amassed 16 hits in the game. Craven and Hawk each collected three hits. McKay and Milliken each collected multiple hits. West Branch  ran wild on the base paths, collecting four stolen bases for the game. The Warriors were sure-handed and didn’t commit a single error. Sara Schmidt made the most plays with nine.

Carpenter and Ava Serrano were a one-two punch in the lineup, as each drove in one run for Girard. Leadoff hitter Malina Serrano led with two hits in three at bats. Serrano stole two bases. Girard didn’t commit a single error in the field. Carpenter had the most chances in the field with three.
