BROOKFIELD OH- Brookfield’s softball program has a pretty good history with power hitters. It’s one of the reason they have such a rich tradition of success. The long ball can get you to a lot of places, and this year for Brookfield it’s senior Abby DeJoy who has quickly mounted up a reputation of being a very dangerous bat. DeJoy heads up a high powered offense that gives more than enough support to their dominant pitching. DeJoy is not just a big bat though, she also leads the infield as one of the best shortstops in the area with a glove in her hand. DeJoy doesn’t rest on her talent, she is an invaluable leader on a roster that is stocked with seniors.
DeJoy is currently hitting .462 at the plate in 13 games played. She has hit 5 doubles, and 6 home runs on her way to 21 RBI. With her walk totals elevated because her power, her on base percentage is .543. She has a monster slugging percentage of 1.103. She has also only made 2 errors all season at short, and has a fielding percentage off .938.
DeJoy took the time to catch up with YSN’s Anthony Hartwig about her season, and career at Brookfield. They talk about her growth into leadership, what makes this Warrior team so special, and much more. Check out the latest Brookfield softball Player Profile only on YSN!
