EAGLES WIN A WILD ONE OVER POLAND

HUBBARD, Ohio

Andrew Frank had a huge game Tuesday night in the Hubbard Eagles (11-12) victory over the Poland Bulldogs (9-10).

The senior four sport athlete plays an integral part whenever he steps on the playing surface, whether it’s the gridiron, hardwood, track, or in tonight’s case, the diamond.

Frank would finish the day 2-for-3 at the plate with 2 separate highlight moments, both coming in the bottom of the 4th inning.

Trying to build on Hubbard’s 2 run lead at the time, Frank headed to the plate 1-1 on the day with a walk and two runs scored. The first batter of the inning, Frank hit one to the wall out in right field, allowing him to get all the way to third for a leadoff triple.

After the bases were loaded thanks to a hit by pitch and an intentional walk, the Eagles would pop out and strikeout, putting themselves in danger of stranding the bases loaded.

Sensing the danger, Frank took matters into his own hands. “Coach John John told me I was going to steal home” Frank said in his post-game interview. “I was just kind of waiting for it and Coach just yelled ‘now’ at me and I took off.” The gutsy move turned out to be required to get in therun, as the batter at the plate would eventually strike out.

Frank accounted for exactly half of the Eagles’runs on the day, scoring 3 times himself while also bringing across one, proving to be the deciding factor in their win, 8-7.
