BLUE DEVILS DESTINED FOR DAYTON

MASSILLON OH- McDonald’s seven seniors have led their team on a mission this year. They had clear goals coming in of going as far as they could. Through a shut down, and being without their head coach for a chunk of games, McDonald has battled through the season. After beating conference rival Western Reserve in the regional semifinals, the Blue Devils beat Shadyside 58-50 to punch their ticket to Dayton, and the Division IV final four.

Sophia Constantino led a balanced Blue Devil offense with 17 points. She brought down 7 rebounds for McDonald as well. Molly Howard put up a double double with 16 points and 11 rebounds. Lucia Wolford was also in double figures with 10.

Shadyside kept McDonald in striking distance the whole game, but could never push them enough to take the lead. Paige Gorby led them with 13 points. Baylee Wach and Taylor Hendershot both contributed 12 for the Tigers.

McDonald advances to the state semifinals at the University of Dayton on Thursday. They will play Waterford at 2:00. This is McDonald’s first trip to state since 1991
