CAMPBELL, OH – The Campbell Memorial Red Devils (1-3) are coming off a heartbreaking loss in week four to the Newton Falls Tigers. Head coach Andrew Kinng and the Red Devils fought hard but fell just short. This week they are looking to rebound and take care of business the Red Devil way. NEW MIDDLETOWN, OH – The Springfield Tigers (2-2) took the field in week four with a chip on their shoulder and a mindset of wanting to come out and set the tone early and they definitely accomplished that. Head coach Sean Guerriero led the Tigers out onto their home turf against Waterloo and walked away with a very impressive 56-0 victory last Friday night. Up next for Springfield will be a road test as they will travel north to take on the Mathews Mustangs (0-4) this Friday night.

One of those senior leaders who are playing at a high level is running back and middle linebacker, Cole Fulton. POLAND, OH – Head coach Tom Pavlansky and the Poland Bulldogs (4-0) are playing the best football they have played all year currently as all the “puzzle pieces” are starting to fit together. Last week the Dogs played host to Route 224 rival, the Canfield Cardinals and they gave Poland all they could handle but at the final whistle, Poland was victorious in a thrilling 10-7 victory. Up next for Coach Pav and the Bulldogs will be a tough road NE8 matchup with the 3-1 Hubbard Eagles.

BROOKFIELD BASHES THROUGH MVAC OPENER

BROOKFIELD OH- Brookfield made a resounding statement as they opened up MVAC play with a commanding 40-7 victory over Champion. The first quarter set the tone for Brookfield’s dominance, with Christian Davis catching a 20-yard touchdown pass from Josh Rankin, putting Brookfield ahead 7-0.

In the second quarter, the Brookfield offense continued to shine, led by Rico Smith, who broke free for an electrifying 80-yard touchdown run, extending their lead to 14-0. Smith wasn’t done yet, adding another impressive 33-yard touchdown run, though the extra point was no good, making it 20-0. Brett Carsone joined the scoring frenzy with an 11-yard touchdown pass from Rankin, bringing the score to 26-0 at halftime.

The third quarter continued to favor Brookfield as Carsone and Rankin connected again, this time for a 27-yard touchdown pass, increasing the lead to 33-0. Champion managed to find the end zone in the fourth quarter, with Christian Williams throwing a 4-yard touchdown pass, and Conner McDermott converting the extra point, closing the gap to 33-7.

However, Brookfield had the last word, as Christian Davis hauled in a spectacular 55-yard touchdown pass from Rankin, sealing the deal with a final score of 40-7.

The Brookfield stats showcased a stellar performance, with Rankin completing 9 of 15 passes for 153 yards and 4 touchdowns. Rico Smith powered the ground game with 163 yards on 12 carries and 2 touchdowns, while Christian Davis displayed his receiving prowess with 6 receptions for 108 yards and 2 touchdowns. This impressive win marked a strong start to MVAC play for Brookfield, demonstrating their offensive firepower and solidifying their position as a formidable football team.

THE FLIGHT OF THE BLUE JAY; CONN NAILS GAME WINNER

NORTH JACKSON, OH- In an intense and closely contested high school football matchup, the Jackson Milton Blue Jays managed to secure a narrow 23-20 victory over the Mineral Ridge Rams.

The game was marked by several key moments: The first quarter saw both teams making long runs, with Mineral Ridge’s Jacob Russell and Ian Erb showcasing their skills. However, neither team managed to score, and the first quarter ended with a 0-0 tie.

In the second quarter, Jackson Milton broke the deadlock when Aiden Stanke rushed for a 7-yard touchdown, putting the Blue Jays on the board with a 7-0 lead after a successful PAT by Jaylon Soto.

Mineral Ridge quickly responded with a long pass to Brady Balestrino, setting up a 17-yard rushing touchdown by Ian Erb. A successful PAT by #1 Landon Pal tied the game at 7-7.

Jackson Milton turned the ball over on downs, allowing Mineral Ridge to capitalize with an 11-yard rushing touchdown by Ian Erb. However, the PAT was missed, leaving the score at 13-7 in favor of Mineral Ridge at halftime.

In the third quarter, Jackson Milton mounted a comeback, with Aiden Stanke scoring his second rushing touchdown, this time from 17 yards out. A successful PAT by Sam Conn gave the Blue Jays a 14-13 lead.

The fourth quarter continued to see a back-and-forth battle. Aiden Stanke added his third rushing touchdown, a 2-yard run, to extend Jackson Milton’s lead to 20-13. However, the two-point conversion attempt failed.

Mineral Ridge fought back with another 2-yard rushing touchdown by Ian Erb, tying the game at 20-20 after a successful PAT by Landon Pal.

The game was ultimately decided in the closing moments of the fourth quarter when Jackson Milton’s Sam Conn kicked a 20-yard field goal, giving the Blue Jays a narrow 23-20 lead.

With no time left on the clock, Jackson Milton emerged as the victors in this closely contested battle, securing the 23-20 win- and staying undefeated on the year.

BOARDMAN SLAYS TIGERS FOR FIRST WIN

BOARDMAN, OH- In a commanding display of football prowess, the Boardman Spartans defeated the Howland Tigers with a resounding final score of 37-6.

The first quarter set the tone for Boardman’s dominance as Tomas Andujar powered through the Howland defense with a 1-yard rushing touchdown, putting the Spartans on the scoreboard early. The ensuing point-after attempt was successful, thanks to Jaylon Soto, making it 7-0 in favor of Boardman.

Howland responded later in the first quarter with a rushing touchdown by Brendan Ray, narrowing the gap to 7-6. However, their two-point conversion attempt failed.

The second quarter saw Boardman extend their lead with a 6-yard rushing touchdown by Victor Dimargio. A successful PAT made it 14-6 in favor of the Spartans. Boardman’s Jaylon Soto then showcased his kicking skills, adding a 46-yard field goal to the scoreboard, bringing the score to 17-6 at halftime.

The third quarter continued Boardman’s dominance, with Zach Haus scoring a 6-yard rushing touchdown, followed by another successful PAT, extending their lead to 24-6.

In the fourth quarter, Boardman continued to pile on the points, with Tomas Andujar securing his second rushing touchdown of the game, this time from 12 yards out. However, the PAT was missed, making it 30-6.

Boardman closed out the game with a 1-yard rushing touchdown by Ryan Smith, followed by a successful PAT, bringing the final score to 37-6 in favor of the Spartans.

The Boardman Spartans demonstrated their offensive prowess and solid defense throughout the game, securing a convincing victory first victory of the season over the Howland Tigers.
