CLIPPERS IN CRUISE CONTROL

COLUMBIANA, OHIO- Devin Daugherty had all the right stuff on Monday for the Columbiana Clippers, allowing zero runs and besting the Conneaut Spartans by a score of 10-0.

The Clippers were boosted by Alex Eusebio who went 4-for-4 at the plate.  Eusebio singled in the first, singled in the second, singled in the fourth, and singled in the sixth.

The Clippers scored five runs in the second inning as the big inning was thanks to singles by Dylan Hogan and Eusebio, a groundout by Colin Keleman, and a double by Daugherty.

Daugherty earned the victory on the pitcher’s mound for the Clippers as he surrendered zero runs on three hits over six innings, striking out 11.

Bryce Spurlin took the loss for the Spartans as the righty lasted five and a third innings, allowing 12 hits and ten runs while striking out four.

Columbiana will now take on Kirtland in round two of the Division III Statewide Tournament.
